Re: Marching In Time

I initially thought that had to be a new low, but The Last Hero album was like that for me in a lot of spots.

Re: Marching In Time

For the first time for any AB/Tremonti release, listening to the first single is all I'm gonna do. I've absolutely ruined my album experiences the last few cycles by listening to the singles that have been released. Can't remember if it was ADM or a previous album, but I remember a stupid amount of ...

Re: Marching In Time

Not feeling this one at all. It's leaning far too heavily into the pop/modern metal sound for my tastes, which is disappointing because I felt with ADM (especially the title track) that Tremonti had really matured in terms of writing metal music. I am also worried about the loss of Garrett on this a...

Re: Marching In Time

So which one of you bought Mark's house that he just sold? Nice place, did he let you keep the 68 Charger? https://www.redfin.com/FL/Windermere/6137-Cartmel-Ln-34786/home/46961690 How do you know that this was his house? AFAIK, it's not. You can see his house here: https://youtu.be/mPQ4Py4H4Ws

Re: What happened to the riffs?

The bad production is 100% not helping this issue, either. Walk the Sky isn't as egregiously bad in terms of riff creativity as TLH, but the riffs aren't up to par with the rest of their catalogue, in my opinion. I don't hate Walk the Sky, but I won't pretend that it exists in a vacuum, either. Thei...

What happened to the riffs?

This may be hard to explain, but I'm going to try my best. To me, as a purveyor of fine riffs, each AB album until TLH has had tremendous riffs. Each of them had their identity, so to speak, and then TLH came out, featuring a swath of beehives and muddy, unintelligible riffs that kind of blend toget...

Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.

Does it bother anyone else that there are people who can't hear the difference between ODR's production and something like TLH? There are plenty of users here who just say they sound the same and it blows my mind. Go put on Broken Wings and listen to how clear everything is. Like how the **** can pe...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

The track that’s growing on me the most is definitely Clear Horizon. The bridge is absolutely beautiful. Clear Horizon was my favorite upon first listen of the album. Haven't seen anyone bring it up yet, but the lyrics are extremely good in that one. I really don't like super repetitive lyrics (loo...

Re: Walk the Sky - Song Meanings

I will say that Myles, as Mark feared, ruined Take the Crown for me. I cannot help but think of ruthless tee-ball players whenever I hear it. Such brutal verses and lyrics, and it's about little children playing tee-ball.

It is about someone who's addicted to drugs and dies, IIRC. Mark outright stated as much in interviews.

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

Haven't noticed anyone else really mention it, but the lyric work on WtS is a really good improvement. One Life sounds (both vocally and lyrically) like a Mayfield Four song and I was really impressed by it.

Re: Alter Bridge Walk the Sky Tour 2019

Just saw AB in Dallas, and it was amazing. Left before Skillet (no evangelizing at a concert for me, thanks) and then had to deal with a massive fucking tornado immediately after. Destroyed a good bit of North Dallas.

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

TLH is a rock album this is a pop album . I prefer rock and TLH rocks. Like i have said many times nothing even comes close to TSOF or Cradle on this album. Im sure many Beeber fans might like this album though so if AB were trying to lure teen girls to their music this is the album to do it ...thi...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

I'm glad they've figured out how to keep the choruses as heavy as the verses. Take the Crown suffers from that issue and it bothers me. Verses are so heavy and then the chorus kicks in all happy and shit. Just a weird tonal inconsistency that bothers me. Indoctrination is like that too, which is wh...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

Many listens in now. I agree with assessments that say this is the most complete front to back effort. This one and Fortress are the most complete to me. I only skip two songs from each of them (Peace is Broken, Cry a River, Wouldn't You Rather and In the Deep) whereas I skip a few on the other alb...
