Re: Pawns & Kings US and Toronto Winter Tour 2023 with Mammoth WVH and Red or Pistols at Dawn

I'd have a chance at the Reno show. It's the day that my school's Spring Break begins, but I'd have to hit the road ASAP after I'm done teaching because it's a 2.5 hour drive.

Re: Looking for feedback / critique of 'Watch Over You' cover

I always have trouble "evaluating" a cover to a song, especially if I know its signature sound very well and am just expecting to hear the original again but from a different musician (unless they make it completely different). Otherwise, the in-problem becomes that you'll be compared to o...

Re: Songs that aaaallmost make the God-tier

I'll say Island of Fools, only because I think there is more that you can squeeze out of the song. I think it needs a final chorus. I consider the last segment that Myles sings to be kind of the closure of the bridge/solo/break area. I made a rough edit of the song once that had a final chorus but d...

Re: Pawns & Kings (Alter Bridge - VII)

Honestly will try to not listen to anything before the full album comes out. That's my challenge to myself. It'll be cool to experience an AB record that way. I've thought about trying something like that as well! I'll definitely devour the lead single, but I do not need 4 or 5 songs before the ful...

Re: Pawns & Kings (Alter Bridge - VII)

song length doesnt matter but i dont want a song seeming bland because its stretched on forever less is more This is what Burn It Down does for me. Show Me a Sign is probably longer than it needs to be, but somehow I also don't feel its length. This generally hasn't been a problem with recent AB st...

Maybe, just maybe that means they didn't record him seventeen times to layer him on top of himself in every track. :wtf

Re: Alter Bridge - VII

Michael "Elvis" Baskette can produce, but bring on another producer for audio engineering purposes please. And I'm definitely in line with Dolo regarding less songs with more quality and epicness. I don't necessarily need anything experimental per se, but I'll take it if so. I don't want M...

Re: The Random Alter Bridge Thread

Anyone else think the guys/their team should put the Royal Albert Hall show on their YouTube channel? Much in the same way I (and many others presumably) discovered AB through YouTube with videos of Live in Amsterdam back in the day, I feel like AB would gain a ton of new fans over time if the RAH ...

What is this "The Resurrection" album on Spotify, and why does it suck? I don't think this is actually Creed.

I don't understand what this is. Just some synth samples or something. I stopped listening when I realized this wasn't actually Creed. Why is this on their Spotify, then?

Re: The Random Alter Bridge Thread

Last night I had a dream that I was the lead guitarist in an Alter Bridge tribute band. We were rehearsing for our first show and the only song I remember rehearsing was Cradle To The Grave. Then, it was showtime. We opened with Addicted To Pain, but somewhere in the second verse, our singer stoppe...

Re: Alter Bridge song titles shared by other bands

Sam Smith did Writing's on the Wall (the Bond song for Spectre). I know it changes Writing to Writing's, but c'mon it's the same title. Also whenever I tell anyone else (like my students) that my favorite song is Blackbird, they of course assume it's the Beatles song and I like to respond the same w...

Re: Hypothetical AB VII - The Ides Of Marching In Time

If anything from the new AB album sounds like The Ides of March, I'll boycott.

That's hyperbole, but outside of the title track, Worried Mind, and Love Rain Down, it's a very mediocre album. Only The Ides of March even sounds like something AB would do (that's a fantastic song by the way).

Lots of members thought Clear Horizon belong behind One Life. I've tried it and I sort of see it, but I think I see it as a later song.

You know, I think the bright side regarding the way Elvis produces stuff is that you can appreciate performances like this. Here's an acoustic performance of A Thousand Words. Stuff like this is why we love this guy. https://youtu.be/IySElrvlyqo Yup, that fits much better. Kind of gives a Thunder R...
