He sounds worse on the album because his voice isn't processed right for how he sings. All the effects hide his rawness.

I don't get the cursing in Who I Am either, it doesn't add anything, maybe the raw tracks were already cut and Howard Benson just had them mixed. If not seems Stapp could have changed them and still maintained the aggression of the track.
