Re: Official TRIVIUM Thread

That’s a cool snippet, thanks for sharing that one. I knew that riff sounded unique compared to the rest of the album but couldn’t figure out why. :lol

Re: Official TRIVIUM Thread

The last couple albums both had some catchy singles like The Heart from Your Hate and What The Dead Men Say, whereas that kind of track is kind of missing from this album. But as a whole I really enjoyed its overall feel. I could tell something about The Phalanx had a different vibe from the rest of...

Re: Marching In Time

I think as a genre rock fans are still buying physical media more than other genres. But other genres like pop and country pull in millions of more streams on Spotify and Apple Music. I get why the charts base the Billboard rankings off a mix of physical sales plus steams because the charts are real...

Re: Official TRIVIUM Thread

Anyone listened to the full album yet? It came out last week and I’m just now getting a chance to listen to it. First impression is that if you’re into the thrash metal and metalcore side of the band, you’ll really like this one. It stays pretty heavy overall, and there’s plenty of good riffs and gu...

Was Deathloop a timed PS exclusive? If so it’s probably that lol. I can’t remember if it was or not though.

Re: Marching In Time

I just wish the songs were slightly longer (5-6 minutes), and that he didn't use the radio format so much. I can understand that. I get most people don’t really expect him to go full prog rock, I just think in this genre he’s still doing a good job at making music that’s true to the core of hard ro...

Re: Marching In Time

I think he’s still better than just good personally, but to each their own. When most fans want Mark to experiment they just mean they want him to make prog rock. Which that’s a genre that has both good and bad to it as well. Some prog rock is boring cause it just tries to be technical for the sake ...

Re: Marching In Time

Yeah, but still I would say that Mark and also AB are going into a more pop-like direction. Just compare these heavy-ass guitar riffs from All I Was to the stuff you hear on Marching In Time. Same goes for WTS compared to any other AB album. Even though this might be rather due to their personal ch...

Re: Marching In Time

Not really. Some people just hoped for something different than the last four records. It's a good album, just pretty safe and exactly what I think he would do after TDM. It would be cool if he branched out a little bit, being almost 15 albums into his career as the main songwriters but after all t...

Did he ever mention that this album is going to be experimental?
No, for some reason people think Mark is going to write a prog rock album when he’s always been a really, really good modern hard rock artist.

Re: Marching In Time

I was hoping for maybe a song that was more lighter in tone. Like the One Day Remains stuff. Just something a little different. All these heavy songs just kinda blur together. The Last One of Us and Not Afraid to Lose are mainly the two on the album that are more mellow. A lot of the album is prett...

Re: Marching In Time

Enjoyment can still be a factor over "this is quality art and innovative, blah, blah, blah." I think at the end of the day someone’s personal enjoyment from the album is going to be the metric they use to measure with. I can objectively agree with Timo’s opinion on how he views the chorus...

Re: Marching In Time

I tend to understand both sides of the “sounds like the same formula” argument but a lot of rock bands who “evolve their sound” end up being like Shinedown. It evolves to sound more like pop to sell more. The Beatles started out poppy and became more progressive late, but for most bands they go wher...

Re: Marching In Time

I need to hear Not Afraid to Lose at the RAH… There’s some excellent stuff on this album. Finishing up my first listen and reading back through the last few pages of comments. I agree with some of the general comments that on one listen it’s a lot to parse through. Some of the songs switch from meta...

The janitor always has the keys!

I finished Control last night (as in, got to the real credits). Is it worth playing beyond that? I don’t have any DLCs. Fun game overall, got a little annoying for me jumping around from place to place at the end and the amount of reading got a little repetitive, but enjoyed the game a lot! I someh...
