Re: The Fitness Thread
Ahh, that makes more sense. Sounds awesome, but unfortunately I'm in a spot where I don't really have much disposable income to work with, so probably no new equipment for me. Riding the old stationary bike would probably be better than nothing, but just sitting and pedaling in a straight line for ...

Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.
Pawns and Kings sounds like the blanket was ripped off, and the songs punch through so well as a full mix. I think Pawns and Kings is better than Walk The Sky for this reason, but I think there’s also a solid argument that Walk The Sky has a better top-to-bottom songwriting quality on it. I think t...

More from my jazz/blues cover band. This one, I thought my improv guitar solos were sounding pretty legit:

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear
Anybody has ever tried Harley Benton axes? They are as far as I understand Thomann's own brand (which is a music mega story in Germany). I've been looking at their SC-Custom II series as I might need another six-string for Drop C# to rehearse with my new band. It looks pretty much like ESP LTD, jus...

Re: The Random Alter Bridge Thread
Anybody else ever noticed this super loud snare hit in Brand New Start at 4:19 before? Something might have gone a bit wrong with the compression I guess as the rest of the snare hits is quite subdued. Maybe an edit doubled up on it? That's a good shout. But it's strange they never noticed it while...

Official PRS MT100 release video is out, it's pretty cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R95_j7fwXT8 It looks good. There's obvs an embargo been lifted because all the guitar channels are showing it now. It looks very versatile but also, at the same time.... not :lol The EQ doesn't seem to do all...

Rewatching the Royal Albert Hall show. That lady in the first row, wiping away some tears during the chorus of In Loving Memory - gets me every time. Edit - Someone uploaded the full show on YouTube 3 weeks ago. 14k views in that time. Don't understand why Alter Bridge don't upload it officially wi...

Re: Modern production sound
Apologies if all of this is main knowledge :D it's stuff like that that really helped me when I was recording a lot. No apologies necessary as I lack that kind of knowledge. I'll apply all of the advice that you guys gave me and see how I like the mix after that. I'm happy to take a look at the ste...

Re: Modern production sound
Drums are the hardest bit here. Does reaper have a transient shaper as standard? That is the going to be the key. DRUMS Snare: Transient shaper to increase the snap of the initial hit, EQ to bring out the fundamental tone, reverb to make it sound big (but be careful to keep it light) Bass drum: Gate...

Just listening to guitar players that make me want to set my own on fire for disgracing the instrument in not living up to their awesomeness:

Man. I was at a London Astoria gig when Hot Leg supported Alter Bridge. The crowd was exceptionally rude to Hot Leg and Justin did indeed boot a pint back at the crowd. They dealt with it well though. I thought Hot Leg was a great band.

Imagine AB playing to a sold-out Wembley crowd?! AEW aside, do you think they could sell out Wembley on their next UK tour? I'm not sure whether or not they sold the O2 Arena last time they were there, but if they did, maybe they can take the chance and move on up. Wembley Arena is for sure smaller...

The import/export process for the UK and EU. I had to drive a van to a trade show in Amsterdam, Holland from the UK and the process was beyond ridiculous. For a 2-day trade show. I spent maybe a full working day on the admin and customs processes; 4-8 hours on paperwork (hard to even calculate with...
