Re: Marching In Time
I still think Cauterize and Dust should've been one album. 11-12 songs. Release the rest as a Record Store Day exclusive or something. One strong album > two mediocre albums. In my opinion. For most double albums I'd agree, but for me when he released the two independently I didn't even realize the...

Re: Lesser Known Artists
If STP is your favorite band, I can see how you wouldn't agree. For my part, I never really got into any STP full albums after Core and Purple. Core is an iconic album in a historical way for me, but I guess I just don't like listening to it all that much. Army of Anyone is an album I can have a few...

Re: The Random Alter Bridge Thread
It's weird how songs can different depending on what other songs you heard before or after it. Album order truly affects the way songs are heard, so when you shuffle it's easy to hear songs in a new way. This probably goes less for songs you know and love already.

I love Flying Monkeys! That opening riff is sick.

Re: Lesser Known Artists
I've been listening to Army of Anyone's album again thanks to this thread. It's really a great album. I think I like it better than any STP album and certainly better than any Filter material.

It's probably intentional to some degree. With thousands of players, they can find bugs much more easily than with hired play testers.

Re: Books/What are you reading?
I read a lot of Michael Crichton as a teen, and for lack of new material discovered a writing duo in the same genre: Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. They've got nearly 30 books between them and another dozen individually. I hadn't read any of their stuff in 5 years, but several months ago I start...

Re: Video Game Bonanza!
I've gotten back into Slay the Spire, this time on my phone. If you're not opposed to turn-based games, this is not one to miss. This game shows the upside of post-launch patches. A game like this can be tightened up considerably with years of player input and this one has been. It was great on day ...

Re: What are you listening to right now?
I just did some poking around and apparently the old version of this song (Silkworms) was recorded for Chinese Democracy but not released on that album (at least note on the US release): I have an even older version (some 2006 or older bootleg), but it's nothing to write home about. The production q...

Re: What are you listening to right now?
That's actually a very old song. My brother compiled a bootleg version of Chinese Democracy in 2006 or so with every post-Slash leaked GNR song he could find. A version of this was on it (I believe it was live).

I'd rate the Dark Tower series as follows: The Gunslinger: 2/10 The Drawing of Three: 10 The Waste Lands: 9 Wizard and Glass: 10 Wolves of the Calla: 7 Song of Susannah: 7 The Dark Tower (first half): 3 The Dark Tower (second half): 7 The Ending: 10/10 Ultimately, I felt like the whole thing was wor...

Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Yep, that is the most sensible. And at some point, if a band uses 30 different tunings, who really cares how they recorded it, as long as the tabs we come up with sound authentic!

Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
So I did a thing over Christmas and retuned one of my guitars to G# standard and was able to recreate "In the deep" as Mark plays it live so I'm definitely going with that tuning for Mark. In London at the guitar clinic I asked Mark about Indoctrination and what version of Drop A# he was ...

Re: Favorite non-album track?
The intro guitar to "Save Me" sounds like a part of Tremonti's Fall Again (around the heavy part around the 1 minute mark).

Re: What are you watching right now?
Dexter was interesting, I especially liked season 2 which diverged from the books a fair bit. Season 1 followed the first book very closely. After that point, the books and series are two different worlds with the show feeling like a more direct continuation of season 1 and the second book being mor...

Re: SMKC Rocket Man cover
Wow, that was over quickly. I did like the intro. I've been learning to play the Elton version on guitar. On a guitar, most tabs put a capo at 3 for the G so that you can easily play all the weird suspended chords. I noticed here they opened with A flat which is a half step higher than the G used on...

Re: Favorite non-album track?
I'm not sure I've even listened to all of these. I really need to collect the MP3's for all of these tracks and add them to the appropriate album folders on my computer so I can get them into rotation.

Glad you like it!. I would test every conceivable feature that you might use before the return period is up. In particular, test all of the physical jacks that you have equipment to test and every key on the board. I'm learning the hard way right now that obtaining warranty service (on a guitar) is ...
