Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

This feels surreal to see the 4 of them together after so many years.
Stapped seemed a bit emotional, which is understandable with everything that happened to him since the last time Creed was together.
They all look wiser and seasoned, which makes me think they won't blow it this time.

That guy is an AB fan, and he loved the song.
He also talked a bit about Elvis Baskette at the end... :yes

Re: Scott Stapp Album IV HIGHER POWER

- the breakdown riff is basically What if 2.0 It sounds nothing like it but okay. Listen to What If at 4:30. Then, listen to What I Deserve at 2:23. It's the same kind of riff, in the sense that Yannis will come forward on stage and bring the heaviness , just like Mark does with What If. They'll ha...

Re: Scott Stapp Album IV HIGHER POWER

First thoughts: - the solo is technically impressive, and Yannis finally shines on a Stapp song. - the breakdown riff is basically What if 2.0 - the cadence of the verses sounds off to me. The whole thing is a bit too wordy, and I doubt anyone will be able to sing all those lyrics back to Stapp. I w...

Re: The Official Art of Anarchy Thread

Bumblefoot can play guitar. But has ever written a memorable song? Not so sure about that. I also don't understand why he would have the same singer in two different bands of his. It doesn't make sense to me. The issue with AoA is that they're extremely generic, and the twins have zero charisma. The...

Re: Mark about a Creed reunion

Nulle Part Ailleurs (NPA) was a French show that had an insane list of rock and metal bands performances back in the 90's. Every day, around 8 p.m., you knew you were gonna listen to some great music on that show. Metallica, AC/DC, Prince, Page & Plant, Machine Head, Prince, Creed, KoRn, Deftone...

Re: The Official Art of Anarchy Thread

That song is indeed boring, especially if you compare it to the material they did with Weiland and Stapp, which wasn't mindblowing in the first place.
I already feel sorry for the new singer who's likely to get sued like the previous two in a few years.

He also said that the album was diverse and that he was aiming to release it in the first quarter of 2024.

Re: Summer of 99 Tour

I doubt anyone wants AB to end for Creed. But AB needs a hiatus more than ever: they seem burnt out creatively, and Tremonti is not the biggest band in the world, so I don't understand what's stopping Mark from giving Creed 18 to 24 months. It would allow him to write/record a great album and tour i...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

I heard a classic rock influence on the first Creed albums, and it baffles me that 25 years later, both Stapp and Tremonti hire producers who try and make their music as synthetic as it gets. I mean, a rock song without an actual drummer?!! I can somewhat tolerate that for an industrial band like Fe...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

The last Alter Bridge album was good, as far as I'm concerned. It was safe, predictable, way too reminiscent of their past albums, but good. This new Stapp song doesn't sound genuine to me musically. It sounds like a desperate move from an older singer to please a young audience that will never care...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Here's a review from an Alter Bridge fan.
He finds it generic and poorly produced, which, but the song is still alright to him.

I agree with him about the drums.
They sound completely lifeless to me.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

To my surprise, the song was mixed by Chris Baseford, who also mixed the previous album.
Just a reminder from page 116: Joel Wanasek said this last month.
I mixed 4 songs off Scott’s upcoming album. Baseford mixed the rest.

Re: Summer of 99 Tour

For those who won't watch the whole interview, he talks about Creed at 6:14 and says this: That was something I think managers were talking about for a long time before the artists were approached. And so then we were approached and everyone signed on. [We] thought it would be a good way to kind of ...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

@nagpo : good point. It sounds like we've already heard that kind of lyrics since 2013. It's weird, because I remember back during the 2019 promo cycle that he wanted to move on from the gossip stuff. He wanted fans to actually focus primarily on his music, and 4 years later, he's the one singing ab...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Here are my thoughts after one listen. It's sounding really modern. It's a bit too fast and upbeat for my taste: for me, Stapp has always been at his best when he was telling a story in a slow pace, with his baritone voice, and this is not the case here at all. The breakdown riff is pretty cool. I d...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

If that teaser is any indication, he's going for a downtuned hard rock style.
Which is not what Creed fans want to hear from him.
I'm sometimes wondering why he's doing going back to the sound of songs like What's This Life For, Torn or My Own Prison, which made him stand out back in the day.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

It's not perfect, but still WAY better than any performance by Creed from 2009 to 2012. They're at least trying to be faithful to the original material, which is always commendable. I hope Creed steps it up next year. Bringing back his clean old tone would be a nice step in the right direction, but ...
