Re: Good Tone

Finally a tone thread! I went through the same evolution as nyte did (are we separated twins or what?) For me, a great clean amp is the best place to start. I love my mid '90s classic 30. Does everything I need. Almost fender cleans (just a touch of breakup at all times) with a few overdrive tastes ...

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election

I feel the same way. I feel like all that Obama has done well in his presidency has been filling out march madness brackets. I'd much rather have a guy who knows what it takes to actually create a job (Romney in private sector) than a career politician who speaks well but does nothing.

Penalties for the saints d? You realize only two people are suspended and one of them is only for 4 games? Plus, theres rumors that Vilmas ban will be diminished. Vilma, Loftin and Dunbar...I like our chances with that group.

Re: The Fitness Thread

http://www.exrx.net/WeightTraining/Myths.html Last section of the page. The problem with fitness is everyone out there is an 'expert' and people are so divided. (I'm honestly not calling anyone out here...talkin about real scientists and junk) I'm sure there are articles both ways. Just interesting ...

Re: The Fitness Thread

Concerning something I read earlier...I heard higher weights burn more fat than lower weight/high rep exercises. I'll try and find the article. Anyways...I've lost 38 lbs in the last 3~ months. I was 6'2", 330 and in denial. Tried the advocare 24 day challenge, cut out sodas/ate leaner meals an...

Re: Microphone Advice

A used telefunken M80 would suit well in this situation too. Also, on the feedback thing...sounds more like you need to eq the rehearsal space. What mic are you using now?

Re: Chick-Fil-A

I don't like how he put the whole company up to bat. I think its unfair to all the employees who don't have the same belief as him. I think that he should've spoken on his own beliefs and not declare what the whole company stands for. All companies do this...all the time. Every time you turn around...

Re: The "Explain Like I'm Five" Thread

It's more of a nostalgia/"cool" thing. Older microphones that had vaccuum tubes in them would leak gases onto the microphone condenser which would cause them to mess up, so an old studio trick was to turn the mic upside down and the gasses couldn't leak out.

Re: Colorado Movie Theater Shooting

To protect ourselves from a tyrannical government, should it ever occur. I'm sure your 9mm handguns would be more than a match for the governments multi-billion dollar military. Which is why I still support the rights to own assault rifles and tactical gear. Owning these things do not make me a mur...

Re: Colorado Movie Theater Shooting

This is crazy. Why are guns even available for citizens at all? To protect ourselves from a tyrannical government, should it ever occur. The forefathers of Amercia left England for a reason, and they wanted the constitution to defend the right for citizens to be able to protect themselves from the ...

Re: Colorado Movie Theater Shooting

The point is, the guy was sick and no measure of the law would have slowed him down. You said yourself, he -chose- to go out and do that with those guns. I own guns and it is a hassle trying to purchase them and have all of these permits and such, which goes back to the old adage...if you're gonna g...

Re: Colorado Movie Theater Shooting

Jim...you just don't get it. Do you honestly think this guy would have been like, "oh wait, I'm not supposed to own a gun. I guess my plan will have to wait til they uplift the law."

Btw, the theatre was a gun-free zone....still didn't stop him.

A while. I'm completely self taught, so it took a lot of time and absorption from staring at ultimate-guitar articles all day since I was 12 haha.
