Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.
I love the songwriting on Walk The Sky. The album reminds me a lot of AB III. I think it’s a strong album creatively and overall it’s a record I enjoy. On the production side, it kind of shares this thing with The Last Hero where it feels like you’re listening to the songs through a speaker with a b...

Didn’t know where to post this but thought it was cool. Contestant on The Voice sang Higher during the season finale last night. More publicity heading into the tour.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
I think this makes the most sense. I’d take 5-6 songs that all are good quality over a 10-12 song album where a third of it is filler anyways.Shortman45 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 9:56 am I’m just hoping for something, I wouldn’t mind an EP with some good quality songs.

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear
I think a lot of it just comes down to price/spec ratio. A lot of guitars from brands like Harley Benton, Chapman, Solar, ESP LTD, and PRS SE are made in the same Indonesian factory. The QC can be iffy but I have a PRS SE Mark Holcomb model out of that factory that plays really well. Also have a 7 s...

Re: Summer 2024 Tour and Summer of '99 and Beyond festival
The technology for digital guitar sounds has come such a far way though. The old Line 6 Spider amps were pretty crap sounding, but compare that to their Helix unit today and the sound quality is unreal. Tbh, I've never understood the hate for the Spider - I owned it in the past, learned how to play...

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Been listening to Silent Planet - Superbloom & Spiritbox - The Fear of Fear EP since last night. Ditto. I like what Spiritbox has done...just wish there was more. The Silent Planet album has its moments - I especially like Collider. I don’t mind the EP route too much. All 6 tracks are excellent...

Re: Summer 2024 Tour and Summer of '99 and Beyond festival
I don't think the audience at the venue would be able to tell the difference, especially given the fact they'll be playing in big arenas where the folks standing at the back won't really feel 'analog gear pushing air through a speaker cab'. But yeah, as long as Mark feels the difference and guitar ...

Nah, he's just set in his ways. The Elvis thing is a perfect example. Pretty much everybody wants them to move away from that guy, but they don't want to fix what is not broken (in their eyes only). They'd rather keep playing it safe rather than make a leap of faith with another producer. As for th...

I also wonder if Mark is going to bring back his clean tone, which is crucial to Creed's sound. I like Yannis a lot, but despite his technical abilities, he has never managed to recreate Mark's original tone. These days, there is zero conveniency or price excuse for not doing it, since all bands ca...

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear
That setup took some dedication
I’ve seen stereo setups with two amps before but what you’re doing with the center cab for one and the outer cabs for the other is pretty cool. Bet it sounds huge in the room.

Re: What are you watching right now?
My 6 year old has recently found the wonders of Spongebob. Now, I was born a little too early to really be up on kids' shows when Spongebob was in its prime, so I've never really watched it before. So here we are, binging Spongebob from the beginning. On the second season right now, but it's daunti...

So a couple weeks ago, I came home after a long road bike ride with a few small itchy welts on my knee. I figured I hit a bush or a flying ant or some other bug and got some bites, no big deal. But these things got redder and itchier and started spreading elsewhere on my legs and then forearms over...

Re: Modern production sound
Nolly Getgood (Periphery bassist/producer) has a ton of YouTube videos on mixing I’d recommend checking out. He even has one where he mixes an entire song using the stock plugins in Logic. One of the biggest tips I learned from him was how to properly do parallel drum compression as well as adding a...

Re: TABN Fantasy Football League 2023
I just set the draft for next weekend, Sunday, September 3rd. Currently have the time set for 8:30 PM eastern time zone. If anyone prefers earlier I could also schedule an afternoon draft.
Just let me know your thoughts and I’ll try to get the time set to something that works for the majority!
