And I can't drink alcohol if I have to take isoniazid

Thanks, B. I'll be fine. It's just serial blood tests to see if/when I convert, and then 6 months or more of a couple antibiotics if I do. In the paramedics' defense, they also are understaffed, short on resources, and overworked (meanwhile their corporate overlords reap craptons of profits), and th...

Re: The Movie Thread

I'm pessimistically looking forward to Oppenheimer. On one hand, that little section of science/politics/human rights/religion/conflict in human history, and how they all overlaid on each other, is about as compelling as there has ever been. On the other hand, I am worried that Christopher Nolan wil...

Re: What are you watching right now?

Just binge watched the 4 seasons of In The Dark with my wife who dragged me into it. It was worthwhile for the first 2 seasons, got annoying in the third, moved mercifully toward some decent resolution in the 4th but then ended in such a crappy malignant and ultimately foolish manner in the final ep...

Maybe lead with that info over the phone next time?

So EMS brought me a patient the other day, billed over the biophone call from the ambulance as a gastrointestinal bleed and vomiting blood. They arrive and I listen to the paramedics' initial presentation who note that they can't understand the patient well because he speaks Spanish, then I turn to ...

Re: Bucket List

Good bump, Max. Here's my update, around 10 years later... I want to take a rafting/camping trip through the Grand Canyon Bike up l'Alpe d'Huez in France Take my wife in first class to Italy on our 20th anniversary - no kids Write a novel And finish climbing the 54 14,000 ft mountains in Colorado. I...

The only reason anything in the universe happens is either physics or money. And this wasn't gravity...

Succession just finished. It was sort of interesting most of the time, and the acting was pretty awesome, though I didn't get all the hype around the story. I mean, you can watch CNBC and get much of that series in real life every day, so the unique part of the show ended up just being kind of soap ...

Visual proof

Found this poster online - really cool layout in my opinion, wouldn't mind something like it for myself, but cannot find AB even though there are some bands they've toured with on it. Can anyone else find them? I'd expect them to be in the lower left somewhere. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/126...

Sounds like some a-hole wrecked your rental

As you all know. I have been assigned to Tallahassee for a while now. There is just no medical staff here. Anyway on Wednesday of this week a travel coworker was leaving. She is such an awesome nurse and loves her patients so much. I bought her flowers and a cake. At 4:45 am in my little rental SUV...

A primer for life

Truth be told, I have given up on girls. They're just impossible for me to understand. (Except Noelle. I'm pretty sure that after having known her for all 16 years of her life, I would understand her.) I think it's summed up best by these Rush lyrics: We are secrets to each other Each one's life a ...

Be grateful for unrealized favors

Also, I've repeatedly had to face the hard truth that I might be in love with Addison for the rest of my life. That's what happens with your first love. :mope I can assure you that this is not remotely true, but I also understand that you will have to experience this on your own to realize it. Be p...

Making (almost) 50 look awesome

I am having a lot of full circle moments lately. I’m thinking it’s because I turn 50 this year. It’s funny I don’t feel fifty. I must be stuck in time considering Erikson’s perspective on the stages of life. 😂 I had a 2000 word essay to write yesterday that served as my final for this session worth...

Re: Pawns & Kings (Alter Bridge - VII)

I just can't get into Fable Of The Silent Son. I've listened to it quite a few times since its release, and although I like it more than I did initially, I still find a lot of things that I don't like about it. Yeah, I don't think the album loses much if Fable wasn't on there. The title track is th...

We'll celebrate your 2000th post next week.

Today I lost a friend. Except this time, instead of the friend ending things, it's me cutting the ties. And guess what? IT FEELS SO GOOD. Remember that in my long story from last week, I talked for a bit about my friend Matthew? (The one who's an Alter Bridge and Tremonti fan.) I said that last Wed...

Cemetery Gates is a top 10 all time song for me. Great album and great era, but it's hard for me to listen to Pantera anymore. Too much bad blood from the breakup and I don't love what Phil has become, tho maybe he was always like that.

Up The Irons \m/

No band ever has been so great for so long as Iron Maiden. 17 studio albums, 10 of which are fantastic top to bottom, and the greatest live album ever: Live After Death. (yes, of course this is opinion) Seeing Maiden live somewhere in South America with those insane fans would be a bucket list item ...

Also, Greg, how did you manage to become Facebook friends with all those celebrities? I sent friend requests to a bunch of my favorite musicians and I'm still waiting for any of them to respond. I'm not sure there are many celebrities in there. Probably just remnants from the early days of their ac...

Moral of the story: Always wear Alter Bridge shirts

Cool moment... I went to see Nothing More last week. It was my third time seeing them, and they put on a fantastically fun show. Spent the show in the pit and got bruised to pieces. Loved it. Anyway, I was wearing my AB Fortress tour shirt, and as the last song ended, I got spit out of the mosh near...

Inamorata is prob my favorite right now.

Agreed, Mara. The new record is the best thing they've done since the Black album.
