To be fair, man. If you don't ask them or make your feelings clear then you haven't been misled. Some people don't update their Facebook that often or relationships get complicated they don't owe the world an explanation. Nothing beats good old clear communication.maximzub wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 5:41 pm1. At the Rookies Rochaus in West Dundee for Plush. I just ran into Ashley and Faith on the street and took a picture with them!
EDIT: Guys, we have a winner. This was the best concert that I have ever been to so far. Write-up coming on Monday.
EDIT 2: Well, this write-up will take longer than I thought. I have so much to say.

Re: The Official "Total Randomness" Thread
So I found out something cool today. For a bit of backstory... my best friend growing up, Josh, passed away in late 2000 when we were both 21 (incidentally, he's to thank for me being here, as he first introduced me to Creed back in the day). Now, from my high school years (late 90s) till sometime mid-00s, my mom was dating a guy named Johnny (she'd been a single mom for all my life up till then). So the Josh thing happened right around the middle of their relationship. Things went south between them around 04-05ish I think?...
So I haven't talked to him since then. But he's still sort of (but not really) distantly related, as he's the uncle of a lady who had a few kids with my uncle (WE'RE NOT FROM ALABAMA, I SWEAR). I was on Facebook yesterday, and saw a picture of him having a little family dinner with that whole crew, so I commented and said "hey, haven't seen him in forever, tell him I said hi!"
Turns out, all these years later, he's still going out and putting flowers on Josh's grave for Memorial Day every year. For someone who hasn't actually been part of my immediate family for about 20 years, to still be going out and taking care of that? Really made my day. I don't really know the specifics of what went wrong between he and my mom, but he was there for those formative years of my life, and it made my heart happy that he's still taking care of Josh's site for us.

Re: fun fact, this’ll be the first time I’ve stayed up 24 hours!
That’s really cool Brian! Nice to hear stories like that.
I’m in the process of flying to Ireland right now. I missed my connecting flight in London due to weather and not giving myself enough time between flights. (I ran like hell through Heathrow and still have a sweaty back an hour later to prove it) I got a flight later this afternoon so I am using one of my United club passes and hanging out in a United lounge with free food. Finally had beans for “breakfast”. I don’t get it. And why do you call ginger ale “spicy”?

What a long strange beautiful wacky courageous amazing glorious trip it's been
I am so so sad over the passing of Bill Walton. I'm could be a bit biased, being a UCLA grad, but based on the outpouring of love from all sorts of venues including basketball fans, fellow broadcasters, Grateful Dead fans, social justice causes, and a thousand of ordinary people whose lives he touched somehow, I think it's more than just a Bruin thing.
One of the highlights of my life was that I got to interview Bill Walton in 2016 for a UCLA sports site (where I was an editor) when his autobiography was coming out. We spent 45 minutes on the phone discussing UCLA, Coach, basketball, books, and a lot of things about life. As you might expect, it a was a spectacular colorful and amazing journey through a bit of Big Red's heart and mind and life. It was the very last thing I wrote for that site and it was a true walk off. Here are links to the three parts.
https://www.bruinsnation.com/2016/5/9/1 ... ion-part-1
https://www.bruinsnation.com/2016/5/11/ ... ion-part-2
https://www.bruinsnation.com/2016/5/13/ ... ion-part-3
I was super grateful for the opportunity and I so enjoyed the time and effort that Bill put in to not just answering my questions but expounding at great length on his thoughts, but I also assumed he was doing his due diligence for his book promotion and when we wrapped up our time that he would move on to his next engagement. But as we finished, he took time to ask me about where my life and what I do and my family and interests. We shared a love for cycling and we talked about the USA Pro Challenge bike race, a week long stage race held here in Colorado from 2013-2015, and we made tentative plans to meet and ride together ahead of one of the stages at the 2016 edition that summer. He finished the call by thanking me for my time and saying in that beautiful booming voice, "Greg, now we're friends, you have my number, let's keep in touch."
I texted him a few weeks later when his beloved dog, Cortez, who got a lot of pub during his telecasts in those days, sadly passed, and he responded with words of gratitude for my condolences and more praises to Cortez. The USA Pro Challenge shuttered in 2016 and the bike race, and our bike ride, didn't happen. We exchanged a couple tweets over the years but nothing more than that, as what was a rando like me really gonna say to a guy like Bill Walton?
It's ironic, or fitting, or both, that the Pac-12 Conference of Champions' greatest ambassador it could ever have passed away the day after the conference impossibly closed its doors and passed away itself. Bill lived long enough to see it through to its end, and he never had to know life without it.
I will never forget Bill Walton. What a Bruin. What a human. What a life. I have some tears as I type this now, and I will never not be sad that he's not here among us.
Thank you for our lives, Bill. And thank you for yours.

Re: The Official "Total Randomness" Thread
Things are getting crazy in my music world.
I have my first show of the summer tonight. Our bassist Matt was going to be with us, but he dropped out on short notice.
I have started recording yet another new song. After that, I will have four more to record to finish my recording goals for this summer.
I have two songs that I have finished recording, and the final mixes are almost done on one of them. They will be out later this summer.

Was a little sad to see Myles making fun of the lyrics to mars hotel. I truly think it's a great song.

The voice of experience, on the subject of marriage...
Also, I feel this is important to tell Micky this - to make sure he know about the 3 rings of marriage.
It's true, there are actually 3 rings...
1: The engagement ring. He knows about this one by now.
2: The wedding ring. Obvious...
3. The suffering.
By the way, today is my 28th wedding anniversary.
