A friend and I had a discussion about this earlier today; does finger-picking your acoustic guitar make you a better player than someone who strums?

Depends on it. If you know how to do both you have more options, so I guess that would make you a more diverse player. It's got nothing to do with being better or worse.

Hmm I see. I only ask because he made it personal when he said Myles doesn't finger-pick his guitar instead of just strumming it all the time and that he wasn't as good of a guitarist as he could be because of it. Dude ain't know nothin' bout Myles Kennedy even if I talk about him 24/7 :lol :shifty

Myles uses a technique where he plugs with his pick and his fingers at the same time. Show him Myles' version of Hallelujah.. That's not just strumming. If wouldn't have been "better" if he would've used his thumb instead of his pick.

Edit: nevermind, he uses his thumb in that version :lol

Wait so are you saying it would have been "better" if he didn't or did use a pick?

I think that's a matter of opinion. With a pick, I find the note resonates better, although it is a harder sound than fingers make, so it's all a matter of preference.

However I do think using the pick and finger picking simultaneously is harder and requires some practice.

I think doing it with the pick is easier, but that's because I've always done it like that (thanks to AB). But yea, it's not better or worse, it's different.

I wonder how much getting some screens as a backdrop and having footage on it cost in correlation with the venues played?

I'm watching Matt Nathanson, atm, and he is playing at the House of Blues in Cleveland and he's got this song called "Room at the End of the World," and there are some small visual screens that has buildings collapsing. I wonder how much it costs to fit that on the stage at a small venue?

Started an internship about a month and a half ago, turned in my two weeks at the hotel and they asked me to stay on part time while they found a replacement for me, which I agreed to. They finally found a replacement, but I won't be let go until after my internship is over which I'm kind of excited about, but can't help but find the timing a little odd. So anyway, I'll be covering a shift for my manager this week so I get to work 6 days straight >:( and then I'll be out of a job in about a month. Thinking I might drive around North America for a while before looking for a new job (or while, maybe hand out applications in various cities)
