Every October, I watch Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein. It's been a tradition of mine to watch it with my grandparents every year.

It's an old movie, black and white, but man do I laugh my ass off every time.

This year is different though, it's the first year I watched it without both my grandparents. Last year without my grandfather, and this year without my grandmother.

I figured that maybe it'd be hard for me to get through, but it still felt as if they were sitting right next to me, laughing alongside me. This is a tradition I'll be proud to carry on through my life.

Do TV movies count? El Camino - A Breaking Bad Story was really enjoyable. It came out on Netflix last Friday so it's available right now this second if you have access. El Camino picks up where Breaking Bad ended, with Jesse fleeing the final location after the shootout and lets us know what becomes of him over the ensuing hours and days. It also jumps back to a few selected events in his past during the BB series, but it doesn't add anything tangible to that story (which is fine because it really doesn't need to). It's more like an epilogue to BB and so it's easy to sit back and relax and just let the movie take you where it will. It's done by the same writer/director as BB so it is very patient (sometimes too patient) and lets scenes develop and doesn't feel rushed. I was very happy and satisfied to get one more chapter about Jesse Pinkman and it provides a really nice closure to his story.

After months of anticipation and much speculation... I finally got a chance to watch Rob Zombie's newest film, 3 From Hell, the third film in the Devil'd Rejects trilogy.

Man, what a disappointment... It offers nothing new that we didn't see in Rejects, 15 years ago... I loved Richard Brake's new character, but the story was a massive letdown. No closure at all... Unless there's a 4th film being planned...

Headed to a Terminator 1&2 double feature this weekend at Alamo Drafthouse. So pumped.

I love Alamo. Nothing like a big greasy burger and an awesome milkshake and a craft brew or two during a movie! Have fun. Though they've gone downhill since, and Dark Fate has me skeptical, T1-T2 may be the best movie/sequel combo of all time.

I saw T2 on opening night in one of the big fancy one-screen theaters in Westwood (Los Angeles) where the red carpet premieres take place with my college roommates and some friends (one of the many perks of going to U.C.L.A.). What a freaking fun amazing night that was. We camped on the sidewalk for a few hours and we were all so pumped with anticipation. The opening chase scene on the motorcycle - with GnF'nR playing - was soooooo good! The T-1000 special effects were amazing. And then Sarah's dream nuclear explosion scene...oh my god holy hell. The theater was dead silent except for a few actual whimpers. A few people were literally crying it was that horrific and powerful (remember it was a different society and different movie tech in 1991). So many great lines from Ahnold in that one, and an acquaintance from school had a bit role as one of the orderlies in the mental hospital. Sure, it was big-budget pop science fiction, but what a brilliant entertaining movie.

I've seen them both on thier first theatrical runs. My mom took me at 5 yo to see T1, lol. Different times.

Saw T1 again at midnight in 2012. Took her that time. Two of my favorites ever.

Saw the new Terminator yesterday. It's kind of forced and often cheesy even if you are already willing to cut it slack for being a new Terminator movie. It was pretty entertaining for me, but I think it's past time to let the franchise end, though it's sure set up for a T2 redux if they want. And, unfortunately, I'm sure they will want.

Yeah. At times it felt like T2 meets MCU. Kind of liked it. Kind of didnt.

Bit premature as there's still more than a month left, but let's have some lists for your top 5 of the decade.

The decade? So 2010-2019? Geez. Journey's End is on there for me for sure. When did Rudderless come out? Ugh. This will take some thought.

Loved it, makes my top 10 I'd imagine. Tough competition! I've almost certainly forgotten a few as well, but those were the ones that sprang immediately to mind, which is probably also why it's slanted to the latter part of the decade.

And yup G those are the years I'd include, but I'll probably allow it if you want to be a troublemaker and go for one on the cusp.

Friend of mine included Arrival, which is another good Villeneuve entry. Hopefully Dune makes an early play for the 2020s.

Oh wow. Didn't know they were remaking Dune. Cool.

Saw Knives Out today. Really enjoyed it. Not as much humor as I thought there’d be, but was nonstop entertaining. Lots of twists and turns in the plot, definitely recommend!
