Until there is a vaccine, please wear a mask and please socially distance. It's all we have for now, so, please.

One of my close friends is about to die from covid. He got sick and was hospitalized just over 3 weeks ago. His lungs, kidneys, and other organs responded well and he was even moved from the ICU to a lower level floor bed earlier this week. But his liver didn't fully recover and it finally turned around and fully decompensated last night. His family met today and made him comfort care, so he is getting meds for sedation and pain but no more treatment. He may have already passed away.

Ed is 52 with 3 kids. He works as a broker that manages corporate buyouts and mergers. He and his wife Marlena moved their family from San Diego to Colorado 4 years ago specifically so their son Chase could play on the youth hockey team here that my son plays on. Chase and my son Drew have been close friends ever since, and Ed and I have travelled all over the US and Canada watching our boys play. And Ed was a fan of Myles and Alter Bridge.

In trying to process this, it has occurred to me that Ed might be alive if we lived in almost any other country in the world. What a shame. What a disgrace.

What a loss.

That's horrible Greg, so sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing though, as painful as it is to hear those stories, I think it's a good reality check. NJ is getting more relaxed I feel about quarantine and it's scary to see. I've been spending (too much) time on Twitter and see a lot of similar stories that I think help keep me in check from going out where others are going, I just wish more would do the same; then maybe there'd be fewer tragic stories like these.

Terribly sorry to hear about your friend, Greg. Such an unfortunate time we’re living in, and the selfishness all around doesn’t make matters any better.

Hope you find some peace despite the chaos we’re living through.

Thank you guys again for the love and support. It’s been a very hard month, but I am thankful for family and friends and after the funeral I am thankful for my faith...it is the only thing that gives me hope and reassurance that He is still with us just in a different form.

Greg I am so sorry to hear that about your friend that is horrible and upsetting because so many of these deaths can be prevented. My nephew tested positive and is in quarantine my brother is exhibiting symptoms... fever, chills and cough. We are waiting on his test results. They were unable to attend dad’s funeral because of it. None of his family was able to attend for fear of spreading it because they have all been exposed.

I witnessed a patient turn quickly from having zero symptoms to ... fever, chills, lower back pain and severe headache in a matter of hours. Although we screened them at the door ...with no Immediate symptoms they were allowed in and it spread to other patients who all wound up in the hospital.
Then of course myself and the other staff had to quarantine and be tested. Thankfully I was negative but my coworker was positive and spread it to her husband.

Prayers for a vaccine!

That's heartbreaking, Greg. It's awful to see how things are going in the US right now.

Mara :hug

Hope the stuff that healthcare workers have had to go through to protect us all throughout this isn't forgotten when we get to the end of the tunnel.
For all of the hope that it brings...

School started Monday and I've never been so annoyed in my life.

All my classes are online, but apparently none of my professors learned how to use Zoom before the semester started and they can't figure it out. One of my professors got it to work once, but hasnt been able to since.

SO basically I'm paying $8000 to have professors TRY and learn technology.

Hey gang. Crazy times...We travelled to NY to move my son into his dorm at RPI a couple weeks back. I got back home on a Tuesday night and and the next day my Urban Search & Rescue Task Force was deployed for Hurricane Laura, so that afternoon I was in an 18 vehicle convey driving straight through to Louisiana. We returned on Wednesday evening a week later and I had a very early morning flight the next day to CT to go to my daughter's season opening hockey tournament. We got back yesterday, and unless something goes really haywire, today will be the first day in almost 3 weeks that I both wake up and go to sleep in my house on the same day

An iconic leader in US civil rights passes away.

And the epitome of what she fought so hard against is going to disgrace our system by blatantly abusing his position to replace hers.

Our country is just about dead.
