Hello all! For those like me, happy coronavirus quarantine! Figured as long as everyone is stuck at home (a little more than usual) that now would be a good time to run a mafia game. If you've never played before, please feel free to join! So far I've got it set up so everyone has a role so it should be a little more exciting than most games where you might just be a townie with nothing to do other than vote. I'm hoping this game will move a little faster due to the aforementioned coronavirus, but if not, no big deal! Here's the roles and rules I have in mind for the game (same from the discussion thread). If you have any questions about them, please ask now before the game starts! I don't to find out a decision would've been different halfway through the game if a person had known more. I'm hoping to get at least 8 people, 10 would be ideal so I can include the Nilfgaardian roles at the bottom of the list, but the game should be fine without them. As always, let me know if you're signing up!
Geralt – search once every other day/night cycle looking for Ciri (can’t search until a whole day & night cycle has occurred, can search during day or night) – can’t be killed unless last "townie" – role is revealed once "killed." If lynched or killed by the mafia, he remains alive and is part of the game afterwards, but cannot vote in lynchings from there on out. (To clarify, if he searches Day 1, he cannot search again until Night 2, and if he uses it then, can't search until Day 4, etc.)
Ciri – is automatically resurrected after 1 death – cannot reveal role to anyone – mafia wins if she dies or reveals role
Triss Merigold – cop role, investigates one person each night, can advise Geralt on findings (Geralt will not be told who Triss is and Triss will not be told who Geralt is)
Eredin – mafia boss, kill one person each night (does not receive Caranthir's abilities if he dies)
Caranthir – can choose to see Triss’ investigation each night (not knowing who Triss is), but doing so grants Triss immunity from mafia that night (mafia assistant)
Keira Metz – doctor, can save one person each night
Yennefer – can resurrect one person the whole game (day or night)
(Optional) Vesemir – secretly cast axii to have someone’s vote changed (select both voter and who they vote for) and aard to block a person's vote once per game during day. (Cannot use both on same day)
(Optional) Zoltan Chivay – assassin, one kill per game during night phase[NOT BEING USED]
(Optional) Nilfgaardian spy – cop, independent team, chooses team to switch to if Nifgaardian assassin dies (told who teammate is). Cannot use ability on the first night without the Nilfgaardian assassin.[NOT BEING USED]
(Optional) Nilfgaardian assassin – assassin, kill every other night starting night 2, independent team, chooses team to switch to if Nifgaardian spy dies (told who teammate is), loses assassin role if spy dies.[NOT BEING USED]
Win conditions:
Townies - Geralt finds Ciri
Townies - all mafia & 1+ Nilfgaard are eliminated
Mafia - Ciri is eliminated
Mafia - all non-mafia (except Geralt) are eliminated
Nilfgaard - all Nilfgaardians are alive and all non-Nilfgaard (except Geralt) are eliminated [NOT BEING USED]
Other rules:
- Roles will not be revealed until the next day to help keep Ciri's identity secret and keep the game moving.
- Yennefer cannot resurrect Ciri after night 4.
- Ciri has to use her auto-resurrect before Yennefer can use hers on Ciri.
- Resurrections take place during the night phase so if someone is lynched during the day, assassins/mafia cannot anticipate their resurrection and attempt to kill them during that night phase
