Re: The Fitness Thread
I had to have an appendectomy back in September, and only just got back into weight lifting a couple weeks ago. I wasn't allowed to lift weights for a while, since the pressure could cause the incisions to herniate.
Before the surgery, I was benching around 240lbs (3 sets of 10 reps). When I started back up a couple weeks ago, I struggled to do 170lbs (also 3 sets, 10 reps). If you consider that a man who's never lifted weights could probably bench 100lbs by default, I essentially lost half of my strength.
I also dropped about 15 lbs of weight during that time, probably due to 1) losing muscle mass, 2) portion control (I was trying to lose weight since I was approaching the upper weight limit I had set for myself years ago), and 3) I continued to run during this time.

Re: The Fitness Thread
I've got an elliptical in my family room. I'll be starting to use it again tomorrow. 20 min to start. After one week I'll add 10 min and continue that every week.
Photobucket cash grab.
Re: The Fitness Thread
I'm not starting any fitness today. I'm watching 6 bowl games and eating crap and drinking some beers all day long.
But I'll get out skiing in a couple days and get going.

I didn't work out.
I'm hanging with some friends from my car club for lunch then a cruise in our cars.

Haha, I don't think today will be a workout day for me either. Not really hung over, just don't have much energy. I did a quick run yesterday anyway.

Re: The Fitness Thread
It grinds my gears that there are no good running routes around my new apartment. (Am I allowed to let that thread leak?) None of the roads have any sidewalks. Of course I still do my runs, but I was almost hit by several cars today.

Re: macca is not covered by that statement.
I signed up for a gym membership today! I then turned around and left because that place was too crowded. Seriously there were old people sitting at tables eating pizza in the gym. Regardless, I'm still doing better than anyone who's name is not Greg so suck it!

I lost six pounds this week! And then I rewarded myself with a cheeseburger.

Re: The Fitness Thread
I've lost weight since before Christmas, my trousers are feeling looser on me. Didn't try to. Didn't want to.

Been eating really healthy and haven't touched caffeine. And it's been in the 50's here so I may actually bike outdoors tomorrow.
