It annoys me a lot when people use quotation marks for emphasis. Most grammar mistakes don't bother me but this one actively corrupts meaning. The inspiration was a sign at my bank advertising "great" home equity loans. That does not give me confidence in this bank!

Vane vs. Vain
Vane - n. - a broad blade attached to a rotating axis or wheel that pushes or is pushed by wind or water and forms part of a machine or device such as a windmill, propeller, or turbine. ex: Look at the vane on that windmill spinning!
Vain - adj. - having or showing an excessively high opinion of one's appearance, abilities, or worth. ex: The amount of views on this thread is making zaz vain. --OR-- producing no result; useless. ex: Still I search this world in vain, not "vane" WHOEVER WROTE THE LYRICS IN THE FORTRESS ALBUM BOOKLET!

Wow, grammar nazi rage. I support that.

Also I saw somewhere recently, wary and weary being used interchangeably. WTH
So
wary (adjective) - careful when dealing with somebody/something because you think that there may be a danger or problem
weary (adjective) - very tired, especially after you have been working hard or doing something for a long time

Yeah, I skimmed the lyrics booklet before I turned the CD on and that one made me flinch. Spellcheck can't catch that sort of error.

We can no longer get annoyed about the literally/figuratively thing. They're LITERALLY changing the meaning of "literally" in the Oxford dictionary.
