Re: What are you listening to right now?
Listening to the newest Goo Goo Dolls album, Miracle Pill. I saw a sponsored ad video for their latest single on Facebook a while back, and was saddened and surprised at how much negative feedback it was getting. That crossed my mind tonight, so I went to Google Play to give the album a little listen -- and was also saddened (but happy) and surprised to see that they've been consistently releasing new albums every 3 years and I never knew about it. Last single of theirs I think I've heard anywhere was Let Love In back in 06. I'm sad that top 40 radio apparently doesn't care about them anymore. Why have they fallen so far into obscurity? I don't get it. Everyone will squeal with nostalgia when someone plays Name or Iris or Slide, but god forbid they keep up with the new stuff.

Aside from Walk The Sky, I've been jamming the TWO new albums from Texas country badass Cody Jinks. After The Fire and The Wanting were released a week apart. Good stuff.

I think the same can be said for other bands with that kind of style (Matchbox 20, Daughtry, Three Doors Down, etc.). Honestly, I don't know much about the Goo Goo Dolls except that their lead singer did the track from Treasure Planet, I'm Still Here (Jim's Song), and I only know that track because I saw it in a commercial a long long time ago when the movie was promoted. That stated, I listen to the song nowadays and it's a pretty good song to me.TenaciousBe wrote:I'm sad that top 40 radio apparently doesn't care about them anymore. A Boy Named Goo and Dizzy Up The Girl are two of my favorite 90's records. (Along with all of the Collective Soul records)

Saint Asonia's Flawed Design album. The 29th album released in 2019 that I have listened to.
I'm not expecting greatness or innovation, just give me some decent post-grunge/alternative metal along the veins of recent Breaking Benjamin, and I'll be a happy guy.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Well, that's the problem right there. I hate today's popular music, so when a band that I like plays that kind of music, that doesn't help anything. That makes me not like them in turn, and Iris is my favorite song of the 90s.TenaciousBe wrote:Listening to the newest Goo Goo Dolls album, Miracle Pill. Anyway... outside of WTS, I'm listening to Jimmy Eat World's new album Surviving. Currently, my favorite track on that one is Delivery.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Zac Brown Band's The Owl album. The 29th album released in 2019 that I have listened to. I have been behind listening to albums in lieu of going to so many concerts. Saw ZBB back in July at the FivePoint Amphitheater four days after seeing Shinedown in the same place. Paid only $20.00 for it when tickets were going for $70.00 in the worst seats, but man, those $20.00 tickets, when Live Nation did their annual $20 tickets week, sold out within like 30 minutes or so of being up. Was really lucky to get a ticket.
Those guys put on a great show, and had a friendly summer outdoor atmosphere. Some good singalongs, some sad songs, upbeat stuff, the island songs, and their encore was doing some rock covers like Pour Some Sugar on Me and their violinist/fiddle player sang vocals on Rage Against The Machine's Bulls On Parade and he did a good job on that and the band did those covers justice I feel. Time to listen to their newest album, I guess.

Korn's The Nothing album. The 30th album released in 2019 that I have listened to. Now I'm at that point where I'm going to listen to some albums that I didn't initially listen to when it came out, due to laziness, but now I'm bored so here we go.

Last In Line's II is pretty solid if your into Dio type stuff. Probably just outside my top 5 for the year.
Also, Greg and I both enjoyed the new Queensryche album, "The Verdict."

Re: What are you listening to right now?
The Hu's Gereg album. The 31st album released in 2019. So I heard about this band from Mongolia due to Octane playing a song from them. Saw that they are doing a show at the Observatory in Santa Ana, this Thursday. Saw that a ticket on Stubhub was less than face value at $25.00 and decided what the hey? It's a close show and parking is cheap and this looks to be a unique band so I may end up seeing something special at a small place.

Kev, I'm going to try and listen to a few more 2019 rock albums so I can do a ranking at the end of the year too.
Can't wait to do a top ten of the decade.

Just about have the main parts down on guitar. Maybe ten years from now I'll have the solos.

What Drew said. Put Queensrÿche - The Verdict at the top of your list.anguyen92 wrote:Korn's The Nothing album. The 30th album released in 2019 that I have listened to. Then put Meytal - The Witness right after it.
Another photobucket casualty...

I've been listening to the sounds of my girlfriend snore for the last few hours. And I'm in a different room. Send help.
