Original version of War Baby. Damn good song already but I like Big Wreck's version just as much.

I discovered them from this site and am so glad I did. They are really awesome live too.austinjhnsn wrote:Okay so Big Wreck is new for me, and I've never really given them a good chance, but I am amazed. Im only on the first song, but the music is so well rounded. I'm glad I decided to check this out.

Re: The Official BIG WRECK Thread
So what's up with these "Mastered for iTunes" re-releases? Typically, that labelling just means that the album has been mastered in a way which makes use of the digital medium. Are you saying that these are fully re-mastered albums that sound better than my CDs?
EDIT: I'm listening to the previews on iTunes, and I can tell that they sound significantly better... But I'm still not sure whether that's just because this new format is better at making digital songs sound like they're album-quality or if something has actually been done to the tracks.

Indeed they are re-mastered. Ian sent them to me in the first pass at re-mastering and even those were drastically different. The finals up on iTunes ROCK! They are taken from the original master tapes and re-mastered for iTunes (MFIT). Hold off on ILMO 2-3 tracks are glitched (sped up, shortened by 5-8 seconds) and will be fixed soon. TPAG is IMMEASURABLY better! Way more clarity, presence and headroom! It will now stand with Ghosts and Albatross! It's an AMAZING catalog! In the process Ian found a few alt mixes of the songs on TPAG and WOW there's way more tracks low in the mix... possible re-mixing of TPAG in the future! Truly wonderful body of work!

Great! I'll have to pick them up. Let us know when ILMO is all fixed up.

Re: The Official BIG WRECK Thread
Been away a while but I'm glad to see this thread is still very much alive!
So this new album, eh?
Like 'Albatross' I've been digging it a lot more with each subsequent listen however 'Ghosts' seems to take things from a sonic playground to a full blown sonic amusement park. It also seems like while each song on this album has it's own unique vibe it's more musically cohesive than its predecessor. Love the Floydisms in 'Friends' that very drastically goes into some of Ian's most quirky, over the top licks to date. 'My Life' feels very George Harrison/Eric Clapton while at the same time very current. Then there's 'Diamonds' with this massively catchy chorus with some of the best slide playing I've ever heard (Slide guitar and super catchy tunes don't mingle enough these days... well okay... "Albatross"). It all works. I've barely scratched the surface on what I think of this album but anyone on the fence might as well just jump over, you'll be glad you did.

Terrific interview. Well-worth the watch, even with the length.

Re: The Official BIG WRECK Thread
I almost wish Come What May was the single in Canada too. As much as I love the title track, this one is more radio to me.
