Nas - Illmatic - 8/10
Classic rap album. I'm pretty new to the genre and this comes highly recommended for what I now know to be good reason. The lyrics are intense, visceral, and intelligent, aided by a flow that can shift from smooth to sharp like nothing. The beats are fantastic, varying from jazz inspired laid back stuff to more hard hitting percussion and piano. Favorite tracks are: NY State of Mind, Life's a Bitch, Halftime, One Love, and It Ain't Hard To Tell, but I like them all.

Creed Live - 8/10
Pretty decent stuff. Instrumentally, everyone was on the top of their game, as per usual, in these proshots. Stapp, sure, he had some moments of awkwardness with his movements and voice, but overall, there were not any unbearable moments. Kinda wished they played more songs from Full Circle, though, but they just got back together, at that time, so it is understandable.

Wow, I was not expecting recommendations from this forum. If anything, I was expecting someone to tell me "lol rap is crap" or something. I'll check all of those out, thank you. I was thinking about starting a general rap thread but I wasn't sure if there'd be enough support to sustain it. Maybe there is.AliceMudgarden wrote:I recommend:

The Verve Pipe - Villains. 10/10, their best album for me. The single (which was their most popular song) is an incredible song and it's not even the best on there. I could gush about this album all day, definitely check it out.

They (The Verve Pipe) are or have written some childrens songs. I was listening to kids place live on Sirius with my kids in the car and was shocked when I heard it.

Yeah they put out a kids album. I've never listened to it and I doubt I will to be honest. They were supposed to put out a rock album last year but no news. One Drew Remains wrote:They (The Verve Pipe) are or have written some childrens songs. Demi Lovato - DEMI - 9/10 (pop standards) It is by far her best record.. It's got everything! Apart from 2 REALLY cheesy pop songs, skip them and its gold!

Papa Roach - The Connection - 7.5/10 - Jam packed full of riffs and sick melodies! Saw them at Download Festival and they rip it up every time, really liking their shit right now!

Papa Roach - The Connection 8/10
Pretty damn good record.
Maroon 5 - Overexposed 7/10
Good record, probably one of the poppiest things I've ever heard.

Queens Of The Stone Age - Like Clockwork 5/10
Disappointed, this record's pretty meh. Not really a big fan of theirs, but I really liked I Appear Missing, I Sat By The Ocean, The Vampyre Of Time And Memory. The rest of it is just meh. Not really digging the blues rock thing after all.

I don't really dig their music, a couple of songs from their new album and In My Head are the exceptions.
