I'm a big Kings X fan and I stumbled across KXM. An absolutely fantastic power trio. Fans of Alter Bridge should get a proper kick out of the heavy/melodic/guitar oriented stuff these guys put out.
Dug Pinnick is a truly awesome singer for a 66 year old (awesome bass tone too), Ray Luzier is given a chance to shine way more than he ever does in Korn & George Lynch really is the man when it comes to shrelody (like a more developed style of Mark Tremonti's solo methods).
It's kind of what I wish Alter Bridge would do, very dynamic songs where they're not afraid to switch gears and let loose. The production is always great but in the background.
ALBUMS:
- KXM (2014)
- Scatterbrain (2017)
Check out these vids and buy the albums if you like them [none of these guys is particularly rich]:

The guitarist's tone is awful. Aside from that it's pretty interesting.

I actually really like it. At first it seemed like it lacked power but it's really clear and makes space for the bass. Very much based in a classic rock tone. Not a hint of mud in that tone.

You can't sell a flaw as a feature. That's music, not EA Games.Crumbso wrote:I actually really like it. At first it seemed like it lacked power but it's really clear and makes space for the bass. Very much based in a classic rock tone. Not a hint of mud in that tone.
