Official TRIVIUM Thread
Any other Trivium fans here? I love In Waves and Ascendancy. A Grey So Dark is probably one of my favorite songs, along with Caustic Are the Ties That Bind, Dying In Your Arms, and Drowned and Torn Asunder

/inb4 everything after Ascendancy sucks.
This is one of my favorite current metal bands around. I enjoy most of their studio work, and they put on a really good live show too. I like Shogun, Ascendancy, and In Waves the most.

My friends in Wanna Get Tripped got me into them. First with Ascendancy, then with In Waves.

Used to be my favourite band. They were probably the first metal band I was properly in to. Don't listen to them much anymore but I'll always have a soft spot for them. Ascendancy is the best though.

Why'd you stop listening, Macca?

Re: Official TRIVIUM Thread
Dunno, tastes have just changed I suppose. Don't listen to metalcore anymore. More of a black metal/shoegaze/folk/indie fan these days.

Re: Official TRIVIUM Thread
I think Trivium have changed from a metalcore band to just a straight up metal band recently as well. A lot more clean vocals on the newer stuff. I personally like it better, but I think that turned some of the older fan base off some as well.

Re: Official TRIVIUM Thread
Yeah, A Grey So Dark is a good example. It sounds nothing like any of the songs on Ascendancy

Re: Official TRIVIUM Thread
It sounds like Dying In Your Arms though. And I actually think on In Waves they reverted more towards the metalcore sound again after moving away from it on The Crusade and Shogun, the only difference is it's a lot more commercial than Ember and Ascendancy. Oh, Ember is also awesome, especially considering the fact Heafy was only 17 at the time.

But I love Dying In Your Arms. That's the song that got me interested

Amazing song, you can listen the Draiman work there, it sound too much like Disturbed
Re: Official TRIVIUM Thread
Yeah I could just imagine Draiman singing it. Not sure how much I like that lol, but I'm excited to hear the whole album. I've liked these guys for a while.

Hmmm. Unsure what I think of that. Pretty good but I guess I'm just not into this stuff anymore

Re: Official TRIVIUM Thread
Not a fan of this one at all, and I was a big fan of In Waves. Something about the melody line and vocals are really rubbing me the wrong way. Like people have pointed out, there's definitely a Draiman influence - and though I generally like Disturbed, it's not working for me here.

Not really a big fan of Trivium. But I really liked a couple of tunes from 'In Waves', I think it's a good record.
About the song, not really digging these vocals on 'Strife', they sound a bit too Draiman-ish. I think the tune is okay. Same thing goes for 'Brave This Storm'.
