Anybody listened to the whole thing? It's generally a very good record but I feel like 'Dignity' and 'Of a New Day' could have easily been left off and replaced by 'Population Three' and 'Never Have' from the deluxe edition. I don't personally think this is a complete breath of fresh air for PT but 'Harridan' is definitely a step in a good direction, wish there was more of those kinds of songs on the record.

Just finished the main album for the first time. I did not expect to like a new Porcupine Tree album this much in 2022. Dignity and Chimera's Wreck are glorious.

Of The New Day is my least favorite song on the album. I agree it could've been replaced by Never Have. It doesn't really add anything that isn't already there, nor is it catchy/good enough to be the "Lazarus" (aka poppy song) of the album.

Still, great album. It sounds so good. The production on Steven's albums is always fantastic.

Herd culling has a strong Soundgarden vibe to it.

It kinda does but the whole thing sounds incredibly forced to me and the track clearly lacks a hook that would take it to a different place. I do love that 13/8 melodic breakdown at 3:16 though.

Herd Culling is growing a little but I still find it a bit boring. Rat Returns is meh.
The rest of the album is pretty solid. Dignity is one of the best songs they've ever made.

I just wish they had included the 10 songs. The bonus tracks would easily fit into the album, in particular Population Three and Never Have. Even though I prefer 45/50 minute albums, this extra 15 minutes wouldn't "hurt" the album.

They sound pretty fckn good live now as well, Randy McStine does a sick job performing backing vocals. I also didn't know Steven does a bit of stand-up comedy before each song now.

Great song, beautifully produced.
Walk away from what you love
And all your people
Move into fog

That’s a bloody good lyric there.
