I'll still be interested to see what Slash and the guys can come up with. Sad part is Fortress blew AL out of the water, so I'm not expecting much.

I think a good benefit to the album would be to have Damnit Kerns sing a song to give that breather kind of thing like Mark singing Waters Rising.Andy92 wrote:I'll still be interested to see what Slash and the guys can come up with. Also, I know Sidoris is not recording on this album, but there may be a positive if they could bring three distinct guitar parts in a song. Even though, I think Slash wants to keep it simple and not do that overlaying guitar sounds that Mark and Myles does with AB.

I just prefer Myles' vocal tone with Alter Bridge. Might be the way the albums are recorded/mixed, but I think he sounds better on Alter Bridge CDs.

I'm incredibly excited for this album! I LOVED AL and listened to it all the time between the time it was released and when Fortress was released. It still gets spins from me, too.

Nice... more Myles I loved AL so this makes me excited

Couldn't get into AL at all, so I'm hoping I like the new album

I hope they do some Aerosmith-like songs again, like the B-sides on Apocalyptic Love. Crazy Life is such a great song!

Yes ^
For me, Crazy Life is in Top 5 best songs off of AL. How it didn't make the album is beyond me.

Fortress blew AB III and All I Was away as well.. No reason not to get excitedAndy92 wrote:I'll still be interested to see what Slash and the guys can come up with. Sad part is Fortress blew AL out of the water, so I'm not expecting much.

Not that Fortress and Apocalyptic Love can be compared to each other in the first place. Two completely different albums in different genres.
I prefer Fortress, but there's a time and place for both albums. Being somebody who likes a lot of hard rock/metal, but also likes a fair bit of classic rock, it's probably not a surprise I enjoy both Fortress and AL. I'm following forward to the follow-up album, hopefully the songwriting is a bit more varied.

I love Carolina as well. More talkbox! Crazy Life's chorus is off-the-scale catchy though.Timotheus wrote:I hope they do some Aerosmith-like songs again, like the B-sides on Apocalyptic Love. Crazy Life is such a great song!
The good songs on Apocalyptic Love were really good, they just need to up the consistency a bit and it could well be a great album. Would love to hear them do an old Guns-style 7+ minuter.
For all of the hope that it brings...

I understand the albums aren't really comparable by genre, but I still think Fortress is a more well written album is all.

I agree.. But I think Fortress is a more well written album than 90% of all albums I've heard this year, and I still love a lot of other albums released this year..
