I took it as meaning what your natural bent is. Bent to fly meaning his natural bent is to get out in life and find new things.

I've listened to the song a few times, and I'm not really feeling it yet, but I'm 99% sure it's because of the poor quality. It sounds too much like an Alter Bridge song, which isn't a bad thing, if it was an Alter Bridge song! It doesn't have that Slash vibe that I've picked up on from listening to his solo work, but maybe he's experimenting.

Liked Bent to Fly, though the intro made me (and a lot of people) say 'Anastasia?' too fast and the bridge going into the solo was same old and sounded like way to much we heard already. Other than that great song though, love the chorus!

Bit late to the party since I haven't really been following news about this album due to not liking Apocalyptic Love, but just heard Bent To Fly and it sounds pretty good - much better than the hideous style used for a lot of Apocalyptic Love imo. World On Fire is more like Apocalyptic Love style but much better than most of the songs on there on first listen.
