A Dying Machine Novel Pre-order/Discussion Thread

Post by peapod0609 »

Good morning TABN,

Long time reader, first time poster. Thought I would let everyone know that pre-orders for the novel companion to A Dying Machine just started off today. The website says it will ship in "late summer."

https://www.marktremonti.com/products/a ... hine-novel

It also gives some backstory to the novel as well. I haven't seen too many threads discussing the novel itself, so I figured I would start one.

Ooooo. Great news to hear. Hmmmm, $30.00. Is that the usual price of a physical book? I'm not too sure.

I am not sure, but this is a limited first edition hardcover. So I don't think it is out of the norm. It would be cool to see this bundled with a physical copy of the album as well.

Yeah it is for a 1st edition hardcover. It’ll probably be closer to $16-$18 on Kindle (assuming they release an e-version, which they probably will). Paperbacks usually don’t come out until the hardcover has been on shelves for around a year. That depends on the publisher though.

Thanks for starting this thread, peapod. I was thinking we needed one soon, and now is the perfect time.

Preordered mine today. I've been really looking forward to reading this, and in some ways more than hearing the album. That is to say, I've heard Tremonti albums before and I know they're going to be awesome, but the novel will be a first and total unknown. It may be great - I may hate it, but the intrigue of something brand new like this is really cool. Plus I want to see if Shea knows what he's talking about! :lol

Hah. No, Shea. I'm on your side! I'm really interested to see the correct ordering of songs and their meanings. I love all the thought you've put into it. I'm also curious if each chapter will simply be a song title. That would make the ordering pretty clear, wouldn't it?

Hey, no problem. I saw this posted on Facebook and didn't see anyone talking about it yet, or a thread dedicated specifically to the subject so I figured why not? I was meaning to make an account and start posting anyway!

I remember weeks (months?) ago someone posted that the novel will not have all song titles as names for the chapters. I know As The Silence Becomes Me is the first chapter, if I remember correctly. I think it was from Mark's Twitter where he said some chapters would be song titles but not all would be.

Good point...I wonder what the status of the novel is?

I've been holding out on the pre-order as I'd much rather just go buy it in person in a store, or get it on the Kindle store, but I have no idea if either of those are going to be options. Kinda thinking I should just do the pre-order. Really looking forward to this story...

Basically, cover up all the adjacent titles with it

Any word on whether Barnes & Noble or other major bookstores will carry it? If so, I'd like to go and "increase its visibility".
