I just realised that we are exactly two weeks away from the announcement date for Mark's upcoming mystery project.

In the interview above (about an hour and two minutes in), Mark mentions that it's going to be announced on March 21st/National Down Syndrome Awareness Day.

The interview was a few months back so hopefully that's still the plan :rockon

Interested to hear what it is. I assume it'll be a Sinatra cover based on what Mark has said about singing Sinatra at karaoke but maybe it'll be something unexpected.

Only 9 more days to go until Mark releases his Frank Sinatra covers album! :peace

"I'm trying to work on this project. It's kind of a top secret, fun project. It's gonna be for charity. I'm gonna try and tackle something that nobody would expect me to do. Something way out of left field. I'm gonna do it for charity. I'm gonna try and do it with some of the original musicians from where this came from. I'm very excited about it because I'm a massive fan of this, uhh, person that I'm trying to emulate. I'm not gonna have a guitar in my hand either - I'm just singing. The other musicians are gonna be incredible that hopefully I organise for this."

Mark said this going back a little while. Notice the part where he says he's gonna try and do it with some of the original musicians from where the idea comes from. Surely that rules out a Sinatra covers album? :headscratch

Interesting quote.
Until today, everything led me to believe this was a Sinatra covers album.
If not, who else could it be? Journey?

First band that comes to mind is The Doors, because he's played with Krieger before. Honestly, no idea... Would be kind of weird I guess, because that would be more or a Stapp gig.

Not sure about Journey, but surely it's someone from that era. He often mentions his fondness for 70s soft rock.

He might just be doing a covers album of various artists, with some of the original artists joining him for the songs.

42 seconds in you can see "Jim M Session" on the door that Mark opens.

Maybe you were right, Timotheus.

Hi Tim! Didn't expect to see you here. I know you probably hear this a lot, but thank you for managing one of our favorite bands of all time!

Still, it's always a treat when you post on here (which is not often, I see) and help us keep in touch with Alter Bridge and company's recording and release details.

Even though it was quite obvious that Mark's "mystery" project will include a rather classic genre, I actually hoped that Mark would've tackled something more modern. Like writing some EDM or pop songs. Of course, as a hard rock/metal musician it's always a risk when you head into a more mainstream direction. Still I think it would've been cool if he tried something REALLY out of his box.

Anyways, can't wait to get some new infos on monday!

Well maybe Mark should try to write something country-like, but Myles had already beaten him to the punch in the Americana/country vibes.

I was JUST about to ask when we'd get info on the mystery project! This has me so excited, whether it's Jim Morrison or not, this is going to be so interesting. Just seeing Mark in a suit is already blowing my mind. :lol

If it is Jim Morrison, I'll just point out that the original Lizard King went to U.C.L.A. and we Bruins would similarly embrace and welcome Mark to Westwood anytime he's ready.

Although the swank suit doesn't really go. Damn, I'm really really fired up to see what this is about, and especially supporting the great cause that this is a part of! #WorldDownSyndromeDay
