The Random Mark Tremonti Thread

In the same vein as The Random Alter Bridge Thread, I felt Marks sub-forum deserved a thread dedicated to posting information or opinions that might not warrant an entire thread on their own.

Mark mentioned he was working on the outline to a new book called The Sand Runner. Starts at 23:35 in the video below

"I've got another story on deck and I tell this story at parties and all my friends are like 'I like that way more than Dying Machine even, I want you to do this'...Its called The Sand Runner And its futuristic, sci-fi. Got a little bit of Mad Max, little bit of Indiana Jones, Its gotta bunch of stuff goin on in it"

Sand Runner? Interesting. Wonder if he follows a similar cadence in releasing that book as he did with ADM.

Tremonti's setlist for Rock am Ring is quite... weird.

Thrown Further
If Not for You
My Last Mistake
A Dying Machine
Marching in Time
The First the Last
Another Heart
Wish You Well

Also, Mark's guitar is too quiet. His solos get buried under the other intruments.

That's basically the same set he was playing the US tour with Daughtry, sans A Dying Machine.

What's so weird about it?

I don't know if a festival like RaR is the right place to put two of your longest songs right next to each other on the setlist. Especially after seeing how much fun the crowd had during Wish You Well I believe that he could have chosen 3 more "dynamic" songs off his catalogue instead. Maybe something like Let That Be Us, Cauterize or Take You With Me.

By the way, The First the Last worked surprisingly well. This song has so much potential but the "ohhh ohh" parts always killed it for me somehow. :D

I would play the songs that i want to play and it seems like A Dying Machine and Marching in Time are fun to play. You don't need to be a crowd pleaser all the time.

Of course You don't need to. Then on the other hand, such festivals are a good opportunity to gain some new fans, so playing some more easy going stuff wouldn't be the worst idea imo.

The First The Last instantly became one of my favorite songs when I heard it. The lyrics hit really hard because they always make me think of the one that "broke my heart and left me".

Also, I really wish they played Now And Forever live. It's a real banger, it was released as a single, and I just found out that its riff was voted the best of 2021 by Guitar World.

By the way, great thread idea.

Every time I listen to Another Heart, it's like I'm feeling every feeling I felt during my trip to Serbia this year all at once. I don't know why.

You're all way off. It's going to be a bunch of covers that will lead him to audition for the Masked Singer just like I joked about around the time he talked about the first project.

Or maybe he will finally do something REALLY out of the box. Like EDM or pop.

After listening to Not Afraid To Lose, I had an interesting thought.

What if Tremonti was to team up with a symphony and do their own Live At The Royal Albert Hall-type performance? Does that sound like it would be a good idea?

I wouldn’t call it a bad idea, but I’m not sure that Tremonti (as a body of work) merits something like that. Maybe one day though.

Mark, his whole family and the CEO of the National Down Syndrome Society were on CBS New York a month ago to talk about the syndrome and Mark's Sinatra album.
