Different clip of the song, posted by Trivecta

These are both very short but sounds promising to me, definitely a whole new style for him but could be fun.

That's a LOT of autotune!

That's not the type of sound I like, but I'll wait...

Wow, Stapp's really stepping out of the ordinary here. This could be cool.
Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
I'd rather see him go country than sing on some EDM.
Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
Ehh, in the end it's going to be some standard Scott Stapp radio rock ballad.
Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
it'll have some autotune digitized vocal like you hear in techno music and some dubstep. safe bet
Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
My analysis of the situation...
This song kind of marks several things about stapps solo career, several faults. This songs very existence could be because he's searching for relevancy in a time when rock music isn't as popular. Not to say rock acts haven't been able to come up during this time and be profitable, but his solo act perhaps hasn't done as well as he's wanted.
I can see why, he's relied so much on the creed backlog that he hasn't made an impact with his original music. He may have been aware of this before and that was why he joined AoA. But it's entirely possible people aren't showing of for his creed shows anymore.
Another reason may simply be that due to covid, he's looking to get more exposure musically to help get more interest from new audiences and fill in some seats.
He seems to be trying to reinvent his career, trying out acting again. He seems to be looking down the road and maybe he thinks music may not be a long term thing for him. Old people can act but not all voices age well.
Another reason why he's probably doing this, in my opinion, is perhaps for musical inspiration. He's experimenting. I remember reading an interview with him and someone asked him if he would try country and he said no and that he was happy being in rock. He may have realized the state of his career isn't what he wants and is looking to branch out, but it's possible he just doesn't find country music interesting. This would explain why it's taken so long to get a new stapp record - he may be creatively stagnant and is trying out this edm thing to see how it works.
just my thoughts

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
I always thought Weathered sounded like a country song, at least the verses.

It's leaked on Youtube.
Stapp's struggling during the chorus.
Musically, the song takes a weird turn after 2 minutes.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
That's just a standard thing to do in EDM when the "beat drops." As I stated, I wish Stapp the best. Rock singers in EDM could work in certain circumstances. Here's a good example, I think.chtimixeur wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 2:35 am It's leaked on Youtube.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
Don't see the big deal. It's not one of his own songs. He's just featuring on the song.
Ironically I think it's better than anything he's released since Proof of Life. And I'm not even into this type of music that much. I guess artificial mixes better with EDM than with rock.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
I wouldn't mind it that much if the song didn't have that "beat drop breakdown". That part sounds absolutely awful to my ears.
I'm still surprised he's struggling so much when he's going for those high notes during the chorus.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
I actually like the song. I was familiar with how the EDM sound works so I kind of knew what to expect. The lyrics and vocals were good I don't know what you guys are hearing. The beat drop was fun especially at the end when everything came together. cool song
Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
Lyrically sounds better than most songs he's released recently. Not a fan of the musical aspect of it but that's okay.
Thanks Andy!

Its alright. It may or may not grow on me. I'm glad Stapp's flexing his creativity
Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
Not my type of music. Vocal is still there. I don't hear any problem with it. It's Scott signature. Hopefullyt it's a one time thing for the sake of trying something new and colab.
Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
That drop is so awkward

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
I hear him struggling during the last sentences of the chorus, especially when he's pronouncing the word Time.
The heavy autotune can't hide it.
He struggled like that a lot on the album Proof of Life.
