Stapp basically does. Most of his promotional material prominently refers to him as "the voice of Creed" and his setlist is mostly Creed songs. He seems well aware that people don't want to hear his solo music. Mark has never played a single Creed song outside of the band, whereas Stapp plays many of them every night he's on tour.

Probably the same, but with a Creed poster containing a picture of Stapp and the lyrics to the chorus of "My Sacrifice" on one of the master bedroom's walls.

There is a big different in saying "the voice of creed" and labeling yourself as "creed". If he did im sure Mark would put his foot down.

I assume what Timo is saying is each of those houses are the equivalent to an album that Mark has been a key writer in. All of ABs, Tremontis, Creeds albums. There's a lot of them but they all also kind of look extremely similar.

Dont know about the good or bad part tho :lol

And he keeps getting better
This, I don't get.
I think Mark has actually regressed as a songwriter after Blackbird.
He had more original ideas back in the day, and these days, it feels like all his songs follow the same formula.

He doesn't write songs anymore, he builds them.
So I know someone is gonna tell me that was already the case back in the Creed days, but I'm not hearing it and these albums still sound organic to me.

Don't mistake me, most of the AB and Tremonti songs are still very enjoyable, but I don't know, I'm never surprised anymore by what I hear.
That's why this Sinatra project feels like a breath of fresh air. Finally something new!
it's all subjective. 'marching in time' just spoke to me in a way none of his previous material did because of my life circumstances at the time. last fall i'd just lost my father and moved out of my apartment and was aimlessly driving around the area i wanted to live, attracted to it like a magnet. i was in a very dark place and not sure if i was even going to make it.

cut to: the closing date on my first house in that exact area is in two weeks.

whatever speaks to you, hits you at the perfect time - it's all good. <3

I try to avoid these topics as I think they're super redundant and ultimately a waste of good discussion. RESPECTFULLY I think you're all wrong to some degree

Tremonti's writing is ever evolving. Compare All I Was to Marching in Time or Walk the Sky to Blackbird and you can see how much he's changed. His change is natural from album to album. Just because its not a major jump each time doesnt mean there's no growth. I also don't understand the complaint about the standard song structure he uses. Not everyone needs non-formulaic song structure. If you do then there's an endless supply of prog bands for you. Not sure why anyone thinks Mark needs to be a part of that. His work is generally less accessible and songwriting focused than the days of Watch Over You and New Way Out but that's what makes him happy. Oh and he's making a Sinatra covers album too. As far as creative and consistently good musical output Mark is every music fan's dream, alongside someone like say Dave Grohl or Josh Homme.

Calling Stapp an awful frontman is really mean spirited and subjective. At least he tries to bring some energy to his shows. Look at how lifeless people are at concerts. Just recording on their phones the entire time. Stapp much like Weiland is a natural entertainer. If you don't like the way he performs then don't watch it it? Novel concept.

Stapp's solo work is evolving too. The Space Between the Shadows was a huge step forward. Jesus Was a Rockstar is also a subjective topic. But even so I'm not sure why its singled out so much. The song is a play on how many Christians call rock music Satanic. Something Stapp directly encountered growing up. I personally think Face of the Sun and Gone Too Soon are much less creative and much more cliche than JWAR. But even so, Songs like Name, Ready to Love, Heaven in Me and Red Clouds show he is making an effort to be more creative and distinct from his standard post grunge contemporaries. I'm very excited to see where he goes next.

Creed is not getting back together. Mark has made it very clear that he has no care or interest for Creed. I do wish Stapp would prioritize his solo songs but Creed means a lot to him and many others. If he wants to keep it alive in some way than that's his prerogative. Especially since thats what the audience wants. One time I commented on a Facebook post asking him to play more solo songs and less Creed and a bunch of pissed off Creed fans blew up my post saying Creed is what they want to see. Besides, the most recent solo albums by Mark, Myles and Stapp charted in the bottom 100 anyway so whatever.

Alter Bridge may seem like the biggest thing in the world in this forum and the internet but they're far from it. I have literally met two people who know what Alter Bridge is, in person, since 2010. I know an endless amount of people who know Creed. Most times when I wear my Alter Bridge shirt people are surprised to hear its the guys from Creed with a new singer. For better or worse Creed is still the more popular band. Maybe when the guys pass away that will change but between the two, Creed has the bigger legacy.

I almost wish Creed was making music for no other reason so all of us would be satisfied. Fans of each side would have new music coming out so there would be less comparisons and bickering.

Creed are bigger than AB in the usa. I think.

But Jesus Was a Rockstar is the corniest song Stapp has ever put out. It just sucks.

I don’t care for most of Stapp’s solo work, but he has a couple good songs here and there.

I absolutely agree that Creed is not getting back together anytime soon but I've learned to never say never. 20 years ago Bill Cosby was 'America's dad.' In 2022 Fred Durst of all people is a much closer analog to 'America's dad' than Cosby. :lol

Life never goes the way you think it's going to go.

And Alter Bridge is definitely not huge. I'm sure some people here think they are. But they're not. Not that that matters to me. I love some of the biggest musical acts on the planet and some of the most overlooked. Popularity doesn't matter a lick to me at this point in my life. I like what I like.

Alter Bridge is much bigger than solo Stapp though. The streaming numbers speak for themselves. And still, in 2022 Creed has more monthly listeners on Spotify than both AB and Stapp combined. :shrug

I agree. I wish there was a way to make everyone happy. I think they could but it would make the gaps between projects longer.

I have no interest in a Tremonti prog band.
He can just do better than what he's been doing since 2010.
As enjoyable as it may sound, everything he writes is very predictable, and it's becoming more and more obvious with each new release.
In the future, I'd rather he focused on quality (and originality) instead of quantity.

About their size and status:
They're big in England, Germany and Italy, but that's pretty much about it.
I salute them for achieving that, because very few people would have predicted that in 2003.

@cheesedip1: He's done far far worse than Jesus Was a Rockstar IMHO.
At least, JWAR is quite catchy musically.

@scarecrow : Those Spotify numbers are surprisingly low for a band that was that huge 20 years ago.
Limp Bizkit has twice as many as Creed, and Nickelback thrice as many.
Even Def Leppard is bigger than them! :headscratch

Yeah, to be fair, I've always loved the first couple lines of the chorus. The way Stapp sings 'His love was thunder in the sky, his roar (I think it's roar?) was lions in the night' really gets you going. But then the chorus sort of gets sillier and sillier.

I used to go to in church as a child. There was this "rap" song that was written to appeal to the younger crowd. Hearing a bunch of 50 years olds, including my own father, "sing-speak" that song over an acoustic guitar is still one of the most cringe-worthy memories of my entire life.

But Stapp topped that with Jesus Was A Rockstar. Awfulness and cringe aside, this song was literally written by the guy who used his 5 minutes of actually being a famous rockstar to shoot a porn together with Kid Rock.

because this is the most active creed-related thread

i'm allowed to share an opinion, just as you are allowed to react in a disproportionately grumpy manner :P
