i'm really keen to hear the Proper version now, more bass goodness to hear. By far my favorite AB single. Is mark doing background vox? i'm not sure if i can hear him there or not...

The more I listen to this song, the more I like it. It's coherent, genuinely heavy yet melodic, high energy and catchy. This is the kind of music I dreamt AB would make after listening to ABIII. I know the song is still really new, but I'd say it shits all over anything these guys have done in the past 5 years, it's just much more to my tastes. Plus, I don't think Mark is doing any backing vocals, which is good, makes it less predictable.

I'm usually pretty critical when it comes to music, so it's definitely a great song. My only criticism is that there needs to be more bass, which hopefully will be better when we hear a better quality version of the song, and while I don't dislike Flip's drumming in the song, I hope his approach on the album isn't too double bass heavy like All I Was.

Both would make sense given that the next line is "someday you're going to lose it all" to lose face or to lose faith. I hear the face sound, but it's not impossible that a low quality video would distort the sound enough to do that.

On topicness: I was just remembering back to ABIII and some of the magazine guys that really enjoyed the album, one of them was Terry Bezer from Metal Hammer (has now moved elsewhere), but just checked his twitter feed and saw this:

This new Alter Bridge album fucking rips! Man alive, there is some almighty riffing going on here. Tremonti in full-on beast mode.

I thought BB was about as good a mix as they'll ever get. AB III had too few of Mark's signature solos imo.

I agree. Blackbird's my favorite. I think they should stick to that sound and I hope they don't get too deep on experimenting. Blackbird for me was already enough though ABIII was a great addition.
