Alter Bridge Questionnaire

Post by Merinda »

I'd love to read everyone's AB stories and AB things that mean something special to them and so I've got some (I hope, thought provoking) questions below, be brief or descriptive, answer some or all, totally up to you.

1 - Who/what introduced you to Alter Bridge?

2 - How many AB concerts have you been to?

3 - How far have you travelled to see AB live?

4 - Who's your fave band member and why?

5 - What is your favourite album and why?

6 - What is your favourite song and why?

7 - Do you have any Alter Bridge tattoos? (share a photo if you wish!)

8 - How has Alter Bridge changed your life?

9 - Do you have any stories to share when you have meet the band members in person?

10 - Do you have any AB memorabilia?

11 - Have you introduced anyone to Alter Bridge?

12 - Musically, where do you want to see AB go in the future?

EDIT: I shoulda' bolded the questions before. Sorry all of you who had to do it lol.

1. A close friend, with whom I have a band with introduced me to Alter Bridge via their Fortress Album.

2. I have been to 3 AB Concerts. All three for TLH Tour

3. London for the live at Royal Albert Hall with the orchestra! The best concert I've ever seen with the Hans Zimmer one also.

4. Myles might be my fav member. I like his voice, I like his playing, I like his style, I like the guitar models he plays, I like his Solo shit. (TBH I could say the same for Mark for all of those)

5. Fortress is my favorite AB album. It has the most intricate songs, the most original sound and melodies, the most mature songwriting of their discography in my opinion, and the best sounding of their album. It flows the best from A to Z and has no filler, all bangers. Also it has the best epics of their discography imo.

6. Fav song is hard. Cant really answer that one. Would be one of the epics for sure

7. I have "The Sun Always Sets" tattooed on one forearms and "The Moon Always Falls" tattooed on the other

8. It definitely has but I can't really get into it right now, I don't have time just now.

9. Only one I met (meaning talked to briefly) is Mark after a Tremonti gig during the ADM tour. Not really a story but Mark is much smaller than I imagined!!

10. I do not have any memorabilia. Not really my thing tbh

11. I have introduced AB to many people !!

12. I would like for them to go more Prog, and back to songwrting akin to Fortress which, I feel, is more unique sounding and feels more mature. Would LOVE more prog stuff, maybe even sth as wacky as A7X latest record The Stage which blew my mind.

I went to the RAH concert too! What an experience.

That's a really cool idea. I've always loved those lyrics.

He is right? In videos and photos he looks like a BEAST and then he's like.. just average lol.

My SO is having me listen to more prog in the last year or so and I would be interested to hear AB's take on prog. I'll have to listen to the new A7X stuff.

1 - Who/what introduced you to Alter Bridge? Found them on YouTube searching for new music to listen to
2 - How many AB concerts have you been to? Only one. February 26th 2020
3 - How far have you travelled to see AB live? From the province of BC to Washington state
4 - Who's your fave band member and why? Mark because I prefer his riffs, solos, vocals and lyrics to Myles
5 - What is your favourite album and why? Fortress because of the production, riffs, solos, it has the most solid tracklist IMO and it was the first new album from them that I experienced after just discovering them in June 2013.
6 - What is your favourite song and why? Blackbird still probably remains my favourite song because of its meaning and the fact its their longest song and has amazing solos in it and great vocals from Myles.
7 - Do you have any Alter Bridge tattoos? (share a photo if you wish!) Nope. Still tattoo free. I dont know where I'll stand with AB/MK/MT in the next 30-40 years so I dont want to risk getting a tattoo I'll regret :lol
8 - How has Alter Bridge changed your life? Ever since I discovered them and all of Marks and Myles related projects through AB, I pretty much just listen to them when listening to music 90% of the time. (The other 10% is reserved for a new album from other bands once every couple years or if I get to the point I need to switch to another band for a few days to recharge my ears :lol )Right now Im just listening to Marching In Time and MT Sings FS and practically nothing else and that wouldnt have happened if I hadnt discovered AB first. And I'm constantly searching for new interviews to watch or listen to on YT from MT and MK.
9 - Do you have any stories to share when you have meet the band members in person? Not really, the whole interaction with the band at the M&G in Seattle was over so fast that nothing really happened aside from saying hi and getting the pic taken. And at Marks guitar clinic I couldnt think of anything to say or ask Mark about his playing or songwriting and I dont even play guitar so I just stood around in awe/silence of the fact I was still even seeing him in person :lol :/
10 - Do you have any AB memorabilia? Lots of CDs, posters, shirts, hoodies, hats, etc. And the AB Box set, RAH dvd, Fortress TS&TS, etc. Dont remember literally everything though :lol
11 - Have you introduced anyone to Alter Bridge? Anytime I ask/get asked in conversation about music I always mention AB/Tremonti and I've showed their music to a few friends who might still listen to them from time to time. But nobody has become major fans from it.
12 - Musically, where do you want to see AB go in the future? Honestly, I would like it if AB just made a few more albums that were reskins of Fortress (having the same amount of heavy riffs, blistering solos and good production but I know they "dont like to make the same record twice" so thats not gonna happen I guess :lol) But also having more songs in the 5-8 min range and less in the 3-4 min range.

1 - Who/what introduced you to Alter Bridge?
Was an automatic transition after the Creed break up. Was interested in what Alter Bridge was and was able to see Alter Bridge live in 2004. A thin Creed did not do: travel to Europe.

2 - How many AB concerts have you been to?
I'm lucky to say that I have lost count...

3 - How far have you travelled to see AB live?
Furthest away where I have seen Alter Bridge was LA and San Francisco (10+ hour flight)

4 - Who's your fave band member and why?
That's a hard one.. i love them all for different and same reasons (cheesy answer i know)

5 - What is your favourite album and why?
Also a hard one. Fortress and The Last Hero have some very awesome songs on that are awesome in a live setting. Open Your Eyes is nostalgic as its been so long ago.

6 - What is your favourite song and why?
Always enjoy Cry of Achilles especially live

7 - Do you have any Alter Bridge tattoos?
nope

8 - How has Alter Bridge changed your life?
I've traveled to many places and met many friends on these travels

9 - Do you have any stories to share when you have meet the band members in person?
so many stories :D
for example, the one that's quoted in my signature.

10 - Do you have any AB memorabilia?
yes, apparel, ticket stubs, passes, drum skins, drum sticks, guitar picks, albums, vinyl, posters (including A0 sized poster of the wembley arena performance)

11 - Have you introduced anyone to Alter Bridge?
yes, many

12 - Musically, where do you want to see AB go in the future?
keep progressing and reinventing themselves

1 - Who/what introduced you to Alter Bridge?
I stumbled upon a fanmade video on Youtube of highlights from WWE's Royal Rumble match in 2004 and they picked Open Your Eyes as the background music. Heard the solo. Never looked back.

2 - How many AB concerts have you been to?
7 times. (once during the Fortress tour. 6 times during the Walk the Sky tour, including the album listening party. I probably could have saw them another four times that tour if it wasn't for the pandemic.)

3 - How far have you travelled to see AB live?
I traveled as far as Orlando, FL and Raleigh, NC on the same trip back in September 2019.

4 - Who's your fave band member and why?
It's always a tough toss-up between Mark and Myles on any given day depending on what everyone is doing in the moment. For now, I will go with Mark. Mainly for his drive and his composure when being put in pretty precarious spots in his career and life. On the days I would say Myles, it's mainly due to him being a pretty swell guy to be around which I will get to say why in a later question.

5 - What is your favourite album and why?
Another tough toss-up, but I guess I will go with Blackbird. I feel like when I look back at all of the albums I've heard in my teenage youth, that's the one I always go with that aged well the most.

6 - What is your favourite song and why?
I'd go with the song that started it all. Open Your Eyes. I just loved the hopefulness in the lyrics and the ripping Mark Tremonti solo.

7 - Do you have any Alter Bridge tattoos? (share a photo if you wish!)
No.

8 - How has Alter Bridge changed your life?
AB has changed my life where there were points in my life where they were the only ones I feel like gave me some kind of encouragement. In high school, there were times where I felt like my family felt pretty disappointed in me when it comes to anything (school, social life, etc.) and my friends were against me for whatever reasons. AB's music just gave me something that makes me think, "Ok, I have purpose. I have something that I can be encouraged about. Something where when I hear them doing anything, any music, any shows, it's the best feeling in the whole world and all is good when AB is active."

9 - Do you have any stories to share when you have meet the band members in person?
I do have a story and I wrote it in this post.
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3557&p=206673#p206673

10 - Do you have any AB memorabilia?
I have a few picks and a buttload of shirts from the Walk the Sky tour, but I want to buy more shirts from them of various designs for this next album cycle.

11 - Have you introduced anyone to Alter Bridge?
I've tried, but I don't think anyone is that interested really, but people always say nice enough things about them.

12 - Musically, where do you want to see AB go in the future?
I just want to see them try new things to keep them invested in the band. Them playing with an orchestra in 2017 was great, but I want them to keep varying stuff here and there. Maybe an all-acoustic album or acoustic tour? Maybe longer shows with no opener? Maybe do a double album? Maybe do a 10 minute song? Try to fiddle around their sound by any means (electronics, orchestra, acoustics, etc.). Just anything to keep them thinking that this band still has a purpose in the now and in the future.

Post by scarecrow »

I'm in day 5 of quarantine with covid so I definitely have some time to kill lmao ...

1 - Who/what introduced you to Alter Bridge?
I became a diehard Creed / Tremonti fan circa 99-00. So I've been there from the beginning. The VERY beginning, that being a thread on CreedFeed titled 'So We're Going Myles Kennedy??' in late 2003 which I believe is still there. I remember being on a family road trip in summer 2004 and using hotel dial-up to try to hear 'Open Your Eyes' for the first time! It didn't work, I had to wait until I got home.

2 - How many AB concerts have you been to?
Six! Spanning 2004-2019. Most were in 2004-05.

3 - How far have you travelled to see AB live?
From Milwaukee to Boston (technically the destination was Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut). It was a short acoustic set for charity where they debuted 'Wayward One' and played 'Brand New Start' for just the second time. I took this video: https://youtu.be/qtOPY1HUnNQ

4 - Who's your fave band member and why?
Mark because he's a genuinely great guy and has inspired and comforted me more than he'll ever know. It's an effect that's only grown over time. Marching In Time came out in the wake of my father's death and will always be a source of great peace to me. The other band members are swell, too.

5 - What is your favourite album and why?
Despite a handful of misses for me personally, I still think 'Blackbird' is their creative peak. As far as I know, the band agrees.

6 - What is your favourite song and why?
I'm going to cheat and name a few:
'Open Your Eyes' (nostalgia)
'Blackbird' (it's 'Blackbird')
'Isolation' (the story of my life)
'All Ends Well' (because its refrain has served me well over the years; I've finally 'lived a little more,' made it through the eye of a fairly brutal hurricane, and come out the other side, being creative and helping others whenever and wherever I can)

7 - Do you have any Alter Bridge tattoos? (share a photo if you wish!)
No tattoos of any kind, but I've been thinking about an XO tattoo!! I'm a huge fan of The Weeknd.

8 - How has Alter Bridge changed your life?
See above, I don't think I could put it better than I have already.

9 - Do you have any stories to share when you have meet the band members in person?
It's been many years but they were all very kind.

10 - Do you have any AB memorabilia?
Just the albums. A few signed.

11 - Have you introduced anyone to Alter Bridge?
A couple friends, definitely.

12 - Musically, where do you want to see AB go in the future?
Wherever their creative muse takes them.

Hoo boy, here we go....

1 - Who/what introduced you to Alter Bridge?
Followed from the Creed days. Following the breakup, most of us who were on the old CreedPit board kept tabs on what was happening with them, and when rumors started flying about Mark, Flip, and Brian starting up a new project, we started excitedly following "TNB" (The New Band) until they announced the details. I had already committed myself to supporting the band whether or not I actually enjoyed the music, because I believed in these men and what they were doing with their careers - this support included starting up one of the first fan sites for the band. A trio of us bought up the domain name "AlterBridgeBand.net" as soon as the name was announced, and that site later became "TheAlterBridgeNation.com." The site we're on now. :) While I'm not part of the admin team here anymore, this site and its existence is one of my proudest achievements as a fan.

2 - How many AB concerts have you been to?
Man, I couldn't even tell you. Other people have been to far more than I have, but I lost count around 10 or so. Probably between 10-15?

3 - How far have you travelled to see AB live?
My longest overall trip included the drive from my home to St. Louis (about a 7 hour drive) to meet up with my best friend and a mutual friend who had flown in to visit from England - then us 3 driving another 8+ hours from St. Louis to Cleveland for the show on Blackbird release day. Then of course driving all that distance back, so probably over 30 hours of driving time total!

One other notable trip, not for the distance but the circumstances - I went to a show in Green Bay, Wisconsin, which is roughly a 5 hour drive. The hard part was that my boss at the time wouldn't give me the following day off, but I just went anyway. By the time the show and the after-show festivities finished up, it was probably 12 or 1 AM. 5 hour drive got me back home around 5 or 6 in the morning, and I started work at 8. Absolutely worth it!

4 - Who's your fave band member and why?
Ugh, why not just ask me who my favorite child is? I dig them all for different reasons. From a musical influence standpoint, Myles - dude is amazing, always growing and learning and adapting, and while there's no way I could ever approach his league, he's the one I emulate the most in my own musical ventures. From a purely fan standpoint, Mark - watching him progress from "that dude from Creed" into the foundation of AB, and now unleashing himself as a frontman (and a friggin Sinatra cover band?!), I love love LOVE watching him in everything he does. From an entertainment standpoint, Flip - he doesn't get a lot of limelight but when he does, that goofball always makes me laugh. From a personal standpoint, Brian - something about that dude just radiates warmth and light, and his existence makes my heart happy.

5 - What is your favourite album and why?
Of course they all have a spot in my heart for different reasons, but if I have to pick, probably Blackbird with Walk The Sky a very very close second. Blackbird because every second of it is just iconic and I've lived with it for so long, and WTS because it showed a big leap and growth in the band's songwriting and creativity with the inclusion of new sounds.

6 - What is your favourite song and why?
It changes occasionally, but I always have to go back to Watch Over You. When I play my (bastardized, standard tuning) cover of it, I always introduce it as "my favorite song by my favorite band."

7 - Do you have any Alter Bridge tattoos? (share a photo if you wish!)
Currently no, but maybe someday!

8 - How has Alter Bridge changed your life?
Oh man. Well, in a roundabout, Butterfly Effect sort of way, I say that AB led me to meet my wife and start my family. So, back in the long ago days of 2004/5, when AB was first announcing that they were a thing, they had a contest on their website to give away a PRS Tremonti SE signed by the band. I happened to win, and a shiny new PRS guitar was in my possession. Now, even being signed by the band, it was too cool not to play with - so I used it to sort of learn how to play guitar (poorly). I parlayed that knowledge into the chance to start a band with some guys at my workplace, which in itself was a lifelong dream come true. It took us a while, but we managed to write a bunch of songs and put out an album, and started playing some local shows in our city park (cause we're metal like that). Well, the lady who would later become my wife happened to come to a couple of our shows, because she had been friends with my singer back in their high school days, and she wanted to see what he was up to. He introduced her to me after the show, and we ended up becoming facebook acquaintances for a while. She was married at the time, but we sort of got to know each other from a distance, as many facebook friends do. Fast forward a bunch of years, and her husband leaves, and she posts that she's looking for fun people to hang out with now that she has some newfound freedom. We happened to have a lot in common (including musical taste), so we ended up getting together for coffee a few times, she hitched a ride with me to one of my acoustic gigs, and lo and behold, we fell for each other and ended up married and having a baby together. None of that would have happened had I not won that guitar from Alter Bridge so many years prior (not to mention Tremonti's influence on my attempt at songwriting and guitar playing), so I give them the credit!

9 - Do you have any stories to share when you have met the band members in person?
I was lucky enough to sort of be part of the "in crowd" in the early days, the first couple tours. Before streaming took the music industry's revenue away and bands started having to charge for meet-and-greets and such, Michael T. used to help out us hardcore fans and hook us up with after show passes to hang out. One of my favorite after show moments was at the aforementioned Green Bay show. To preface this, during the show, I was up front right by Mark, and at one point, was reaching up with my hand in the \m/ horns, as you do. Mark saw this, came over in the midst of playing, and reached down with the same hand formation and gave me a bit of a high 5. Er, high 2, in this case. So... after show, a bunch of us are standing around in a circle, chatting it up, including Mark and his wife. I had all but forgotten that moment in the show already, but Mark pointed over towards me and said (and I'm paraphrasing from memory, this was in November 2004), "and this guy... so I was up on stage, and I was feeling kinda tired, and I saw him reaching up like 'YAAAH' *makes the \m/ sign with his hand* so I was like 'YAAAHHH' *makes the \m/ sign with his other hand and touches them together* and that picked me up, man, got me through the show." I'm sure he was joking around, but friggin' cool moment.

10 - Do you have any AB memorabilia?
T-shirts, hoodie, that PRS Tremonti SE signed by the band.... y'know, the usual stuff.

11 - Have you introduced anyone to Alter Bridge?
For sure! I've been preaching the good word for about 18 years now(!), so I'm sure it's rubbed off on somebody here or there.

12 - Musically, where do you want to see AB go in the future?
You know, when the subject comes up, I always stick up for the creativity of the band - I want them to be whatever they want to be, to put their creative energy into the world rather than kowtowing to whatever the fanbase (including me) wants them to be. That said, I was very impressed with the songwriting and sound experimentation on Walk The Sky, and really hope to see further exploration of new ideas and sounds. I'd hate to see them come out and just put out a "standard" AB album - keep making each one special, make sure each album has its own feel and sound, continue growing and maturing and trying new things, rather than getting stagnant and repetitive.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this one! I would absolutely love some longer tunes akin to Fortress or Blackbird. Even down the same road as Fortress would make me happy.

Ooh I love this. I was in a similar boat as a teenager and their music gave me a reason to keep going when I didn't think I could. I'm glad you made it through that. :hug

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! :hug The band have a knack for getting people through tough times. I had a similar experience in 2019 with WTS when my step-father passed away.

Oh gosh, how long have we known each other now, B? It's over a decade easily and I've been following your life journey the whole way! I remember abb.net so very well and all the fun threads and stupid stuff we went on with. Good times.

Oh man. Well, in a roundabout, Butterfly Effect sort of way, I say that AB led me to meet my wife and start my family...
Watching your life with L blossom has been lovely to watch! I credit AB with bringing me my soul mate too. :)

SO jelly you were also one of the early fans who had the privilege of hanging with the baby AB.

Re: Alter Bridge Questionnaire

Post by gbruin »

Why not? New album cycle starting, so let's jump start the boards!

1 - Who/what introduced you to Alter Bridge? My brother, Gary. He was a huge fan who migrated to AB from the Creed days, and he badgered me for over a year to check these guys out and then he finally bought me a copy of ODR for Christmas in 2006.

2 - How many AB concerts have you been to? I don't know...maybe 10?

3 - How far have you travelled to see AB live? Flew to Orlando for the first Fortress show at the House of Blues before their Euro tour. Met a million great AB fans that week, and I saw Zaz there too ;) . Denver -> Orlando is 1,578.65 mi, aka 2,540.60 km.

4 - Who's your fave band member and why? They're all great but it's Myles. Just his aw-shucks self deprecating perfectionist seemingly never satisfied despite being basically the most talented guy ever demeanor. He has been the kindest guy every time we have spoken. He's genuine. They all are.

5 - What is your favourite album and why? ODR. I was so caught off guard by how great that music was, and the the messages in the lyrics on that album, and MK's voice on ODR (and Blackbird) are just so pure and beautiful.

6 - What is your favourite song and why? One Day Remains. The message in that song basically saved my life then as I knew it. And it also totally shreds.

7 - Do you have any Alter Bridge tattoos? (share a photo if you wish!) I wanted to get the script AB logo from AB III, as it's also my son's initials (and I later would have added a matching KB for my daughter). I told my wife this and she said, "Sure. Go ahead and get whatever tattoo you want". I'm 100% certain she meant exactly the opposite of what she said. Alas, I have no tattoos at all.

8 - How has Alter Bridge changed your life? I was in a really dark unhappy place for a few years - stresses/dissatisfaction from home, work, marriage, first kid, etc... I just hated where I was back then. That's when my brother bought me that copy of ODR and the words in those songs (never mind that it was some of the best music I'd ever heard) were exactly the message I needed to hear at that point in my life. Really changed my outlook on things and brought the joy in life to the forefront and made me a much better human. Find peace, find the real.

9 - Do you have any stories to share when you have meet the band members in person? I happened into a Slash w/MK&TC show at a tiny place in Aspen on their first tour in front of just a few hundred people. After the show, I stayed out back to meet Myles and had the best 5-10 minute talk with him. At the end, I basically pushed my phone at this lovely blond woman who was patiently standing nearby and asked if she'd take our picture which she very kindly did. I didn't realize at the time that was his wife I was holding up and imposing on. :facepalm :lol Another great moment was waiting in the snow by the bus after an AB show in Boulder on the BB tour and us not really recognizing Flip who just sauntered up to our little huddling group of fans and started talking to us like he was just another fan. We're like, hey man...yeah what a great show, we really enjoyed it...yeah we're just hanging out here hoping to talk to the guys...wait, holy shit, you're Flip!! :lol

10 - Do you have any AB memorabilia? The best thing I have is the lyric sheet from ODR that unfolded into a small poster of the album cover with the lyrics to that song. I got that poster signed by everyone at that Boulder show and it's framed and hangs next to my bed. It's basically the first thing I see every time I get up and it's the perfect way to start a new day.

11 - Have you introduced anyone to Alter Bridge? Yup. Lots.

12 - Musically, where do you want to see AB go in the future? While I'd be more than content if they just kept doing ODR and BB style music, I'll go wherever they choose. I don't put expectations or wishes on a band. I'm simply interested to see what is in their hearts and minds and musical souls going forward. Those first AB 2 albums will always endure, and I've really enjoyed all their other albums too, but I'll just enjoy going along for the ride on whatever journey Alter Bridge takes.

I do have a story and I wrote it in this post.

Was that the time you gave Myles the flu? Or was it covid? :P

Good thread idea Merinda! Welcome back - hope you stay a while!

1 - Who/what introduced you to Alter Bridge?
Saw OYE on VH1 and was hooked. Didn't buy the album til about half a year later but I was blown away when I did.

2 - How many AB concerts have you been to?
Not 100% sure on this one - wanna say somewhere between 8-10 shows, maybe more.

3 - How far have you travelled to see AB live?
~1,050 miles - New Jersey > Orlando for Fortress album release party. I saw Greg there ;)

4 - Who's your fave band member and why?
Mark - ODR was mainly written and played by him (guitar-wise) and that album inspired me to learn to play guitar. Best decision I've ever made and I owe it to him. Initially impressed by his guitar work, then his vocal work on Tremonti albums, and now the Sinatra album. The guy seems to pull from a bottomless pool of talent!

5 - What is your favourite album and why?
One Day Remains, mostly for the nostalgia, but it's got some great guitar work and inspirational themes.

6 - What is your favourite song and why?
Haven't thought about this in a while but probably Cry of Achilles, every time I hear it I can't help but think "That was cool!"

7 - Do you have any Alter Bridge tattoos? (share a photo if you wish!)
Does Shea's face count?

8 - How has Alter Bridge changed your life?
Opened my ears to a world of music I hadn't really been paying attention to before and think of it in different ways, plus introduced me to a bunch of cool people both online and in person.

9 - Do you have any stories to share when you have meet the band members in person?
First time I met Myles was at a PRS event in NYC. About 60-70 people crammed into a music store listening to Paul Reed Smith and Myles talk about guitars. I was super nervous and shaking, got him to sign my album covers and MF4 covers which he stopped to admire (proud moment for me!).
Also, I still get a kick out of talking with Mark about books. I went to a radio station interview and he mentioned Brandon Sanderson as an inspiration for A Dying Machine. It blew my mind since Andy92 is such a big fan so he and I talked about that and Stephen King for a while after.

10 - Do you have any AB memorabilia?
Couple of shirts, does the ABX box set count? Do I dare mention it's name? :lol Still waiting to catch a pick at a show.

11 - Have you introduced anyone to Alter Bridge?
I think anyone I know knows AB because of me to some extent.

12 - Musically, where do you want to see AB go in the future?
I'm not picky, there are bits and pieces of every album I like and don't like. They always seem to come through with inspiring lyrics and something cool on guitar so as long as they keep doing that, I'll be happy! Although a cover album would be sweet too...

Oh man that's amazing! How old were you if you don't mind me asking? Are you another fan grown up alongside AB? (I was about 13 when I started listening in '06 (I think).
scarecrow wrote: Sat Apr 30, 2022 5:53 pm 4 - Who's your fave band member and why?
Mark because he's a genuinely great guy and has inspired and comforted me more than he'll ever know. It's an effect that's only grown over time. Marching In Time came out in the wake of my father's death and will always be a source of great peace to me. The other band members are swell, too.
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! :hug The band have a knack for getting people through tough times. I had a similar experience in 2019 with WTS when my step-father passed away.
I was in middle school when I was introduced to Creed. So I was 14 years old at my first show in August 2000. And 18 at my first AB show in 2004. Met the guys for the first time in January 2005. I believe my friends and I even interacted with nagpo that night!

Was a total basketcase on the boards in 2007 when "Rise Today" came out, not proud of it. A twenty-something know-it-all. Oof. I still feel bad about it.

But yeah, the ODR tour was amazing. I wish y'all could've been there.

And thanks for the condolences. My dad was a complicated person (not a particularly good one) and the fallout of his death was incredibly tough psychologically - coming to terms with who he was.

But 2022 has been so great to me so far. I just bought a house and released my first original music ever!! in the same month!

Surely at this stage it must be over a 100????
I don't know, but also don't think it can be 100.. hmm.. maybe it could if you combine Alter Bridge, Tremonti, Slash and Myles gigs alltogether.

1 - Who/what introduced you to Alter Bridge?

I was introduced to Alter Bridge in 2011, by a friend of a friend at the age of 12. I met this person a grand total of twice so I often wonder what my musical life would look like had this never happened.

2 - How many AB concerts have you been to?

Five to date, with two more scheduled for this December.

3 - How far have you travelled to see AB live?

I live in the UK so fortunately not very far! Sheffield to the Royal Albert Hall was the farthest journey.

4 - Who's your fave band member and why?

If you put a gun to my head, I'd have to say Myles. Irrespective of genre, I've always been drawn to the vocals most in music. I also love the art of singing, and so naturally Myles is my favourite.

5 - What is your favourite album and why?

So hard to choose. Again, were a gun to my head I'd say Fortress. It was the first AB album I experienced "pre-release hype" for, and I distinctly remember how thrilled I felt listening to Addicted to Pain for the first time. Personally, I think Fortress is also the most consistent AB album.

6 - What is your favourite song and why?

These questions are way too hard! Probably Watch Over You - It's certainly the song I find myself coming back to the most. The chorus melody, the acoustic live performances, the lyrics and Myles' emotive delivery of them; It resonates with me for reasons I can't quite explain.

7 - Do you have any Alter Bridge tattoos? (share a photo if you wish!)

I'm afraid not, although I have been tempted in the past.

8 - How has Alter Bridge changed your life?

I listened to Alter Bridge all through my formative years, and so the impact is very significant. Mark and Myles were the main influences behind my learning the guitar. Myles' voice heavily influenced my appreciation for and love of singing. As a teenager I've no doubt I used their music to heighten feelings of joy and dampen feelings of sadness. So yes, the influence is there.

9 - Do you have any stories to share when you have meet the band members in person?

Unfortunately not. I still hope for a day in which I might meet them or have my photo taken with them, but I fear the opportunites for this post-COVID are very slim indeed.

10 - Do you have any AB memorabilia?

Merchandise-wise, I have a Fortress mug from their 2013 tour and a 2017 Royal Albert Hall t-shirt. But that's about it.

11 - Have you introduced anyone to Alter Bridge?

Yes, many people. In fact, the friends closest to me often like to tease me by suggesting they "knew who Alter Bridge was before (I) did", purely because they liked WWE at an early age and unwittingly listened to Edge's remix of Metalingus.

12 - Musically, where do you want to see AB go in the future?

I'm a sucker for the longer epics, so more of those would not go unappreciated. I liked the incorporation of synth elements for Walk the Sky, and would be happy for those to stay. I would also like it if Myles and Mark were to take the lead vocal role on more songs together.

Provided their songwriting remains authentic and the process isn't rushed (as it arguably has been recently), I have no requests for their direction outisde of them fulfilling their own artistic desires.
Let this be an exercise in how to face your fears

I love that really bright happy sounding rock vibe of Playlist. It's perfect for playing on the deck in these late spring/early summer afternoons with a grill and a drink or two. Congrats man! You're very talented. I hope you keep making music!
