One Day Remains 8th Anniversary Poll!
Hi Everyone!
August 10th is the 8th Anniversary of One Day Remains! In light of this, I'd like to hear what your FAVORITE song is from this fantastic record.
I set it so that you can re-vote, because people change their minds all the time!
When I first started listening to AB back in 2005, it was Down to My Last for a solid 3 years. It moved around all over the place, and now Shed My Skin has held strong for a while.

My favorite, and most important album, ever.
Going with the title track. Many of these songs have shared the top spot at times, but it always comes back to One Day Remains for me.

Another photobucket casualty...

Agreed. I love Blackbird and ABIII, but they don't come close to ODR for me. It's been my #1 since I first heard it.gbruin wrote:My favorite, and most important album, ever.

Choosing a favourite from this album is extremely difficult, it is by far my favourite AB album, some may say it's liked so heavily because of nostalgia, and that may be true to an extent, but I genuinely believe it's their best album. I wish they could return to this kind of sound, but I don't think that will happen.
I'm gonna say Watch Your Words is my favourite for now, tough decision considering on the same album there's songs like Find The Real, One Day Remains, Metalingus and The End Is Here.

Broken Wings. One of the few AB songs I like live as much as I like on the album.

Re: -1 because it's hard to play though.
ODR for it's fast paced tempo, guitar riff throughout the whole thing, and lyrical content. Plus it's the title track and this album changed the way I view music.

The End Is Here
ODR, Metalingus and Broken Wings probably rounding out the top 4 best from this album.

Do you like it when it's played live, though? If I bought a live album without ever hearing the album version of ODR, I would probably hate it.zazthespaz wrote:ODR for it's fast paced tempo, guitar riff throughout the whole thing, and lyrical content. OF COURSE I FUCKING DO! (that answers both mine and your questions)

Really? I've always thought it sounds awful live. Especially when they speed it up. Can't stand that,
Maybe it's just me, though.

It's between FTR, OYE, ILM and SMS. I actually can't choose.

It doesn't sound too bad to me, but don't get me started on Metalingus live...ThravRande wrote:Really? I've always thought it sounds awful live. Especially when they speed it up. Can't stand that,

Went with In Loving Memory. The song is just perfect in every way.

burn it down, and it was a no brainer. when they played this song back from 04-06 it was amazing to hear it live. they screwed it up from 08 -present, and it sounds completely different live. i love the lyrics. i honestly think "whatever takes us away will be the same to drive us on" are the best on the entire album. then the orgasmic solo at the end, which i believe is the coolest and most fitting on the album. that long note from myles is awesome and meshes perfectly.
burn it down and blackbird are the only 2 alter bridge songs that i have showed my friends and they immediately like without fail.

And, by the way, so easy to play on the guitar (minus solo of course). Love Mark's blues licks during the bridge.

Too hard to call. Many classics. I'll settle on Shed My Skin for the moment but it could just as easily be any of the others.

Tough choice between Find the Real and In Loving Memory. I'll go with In Loving Memory.
Re: One Day Remains 8th Anniversary Poll!
Well put. I voted BID for similar reasons. I remember watching the video of the guys performing that song live in Glasgow probably hundreds of times. I would kill to see them play it live again.AB23 wrote:burn it down, and it was a no brainer. when they played this song back from 04-06 it was amazing to hear it live. they screwed it up from 08 -present, and it sounds completely different live. i love the lyrics. i honestly think "whatever takes us away will be the same to drive us on" are the best on the entire album. then the orgasmic solo at the end, which i believe is the coolest and most fitting on the album. that long note from myles is awesome and meshes perfectly.
