August US Tour 2023 with Sevendust and Mammoth WVH Opening

Well, one more round in the states. I hate that they stated that this is the final chapter for the states tour for the album. Was hoping they do something that involves another West Coast leg somehow. This looks like the B Markets tour. I guess I'll see if there is a show on a weekend in a location I want to take a trip to.

I don't care that I've seen these three bands multiple times and won't deviate from their setlists. This is still an awesome bill.

Oh wait a minute. There's a fourth band on this line-up? WHY!!!!!

Edit: Actually, I take that back. It seems like there will be shows where Sevendust or Mammoth will not be a part of, so this MJT band will fill in as 1st opener.

Edit x 2: Hmmm, there's a show in West Virginia on a Friday. I wonder if I can meet Andy at that show?

The very last show is at a pretty cool venue. The Stir Concert Cove. It is an outdoor venue so you do have the risk of evening thunderstorms. Last time it started raining during blackbird which was actually an awesome experience. But it sits in a grassy "bowl" with the stage up against the Harrah's hotel tower. The side is lined with beer and food tents. The river and the skyline of downtown Omaha right behind you.

Also, as the name implies, it is attached to a casino with several other casinos nearby if that's your thing.

Also, short drive to Omaha's world famous zoo. (Recently ranked #1 in the country.) A brand new Luminarium just opened right across the river and the central park / new riverfront park will be completed in July. Might be able to catch some other free concerts there.

But.... it's on a Thursday. So doesn't fully fit your wanting to visit somewhere on the weekend.

Okay, going to go apply to be a spokesman for Omaha tourism now. Later!

Oh boy..... a podcast that I regularly listen to have a live show in Chicago on August 26th. AB's show in Grand Rapids, MI is on 08/25, on a Friday. There's an Amtrak train that can go from Grand Rapids to Chicago and it would take 4 hours on the morning of 08/26. I think I got my summer trip figured out.

Oh boy. I have my flights booked to go to Grand Rapids. Everything is falling into place. Fly out on 08/24, land in the morning on 08/25, see Alter Bridge and Sevendust. Take a train to Chicago the next morning for a podcast live show and relax for a day in Chicago before heading home. This is going to be a great summer.

I have a question.

Why is this the last leg of the tour? Historically, they would run until October, November, even December. They would hit Europe 3 times instead of 2. They would hit places outside of Europe and North America.

Why end the tour so soon? What are they gonna do for the rest of the year?

Around 5:41 they mention trying to get to South America in fall. I've also seen rumors of them going to Australia.

Huh. Well, then it's not the last leg of the tour...?

They've been advertising this tour in August as the final tour of the album in the states.

This is what they stated in the Tweet in the OP.
💥The final chapter of the USA #PawnsAndKingsTour 💥

But ever since then, they've been advertising it as the final leg of the tour, period.

Still no Fable after all this time. I am disappoint.

Imagine they do a section in the show where they do Blackbird, Fortress, Fable. That would be incredible.

All right, my ticket for the show in Grand Rapids is locked. Paid only $23.00 through Tickpick. Ticket was listed for $33.00. Had a $10.00 credit on my Tickpick account. Easy game. Cheapest I have ever paid for an AB GA ticket.

Great interview with Myles about the upcoming tour. There's still hope that they may play Fable Of The Silent Son.

If this song doesn't get played live, this will be the greatest disappointment since AB did not play Words Darker Than Their Wings during the AB III tour.

I kind of wonder if Mark intentionally posted that so they have to play it on tour. Like maybe Myles is hesitant about it for some reason like he was about WDDTW and Mark is pushing him into the deep end :lol

In the interview with Myles that I linked earlier, Myles says that he wants to play it live as well, and that it's his favorite song from the album.

Seeing the band at the Illinois State Fair on Aug. 16. Really hope they play Fable!

It'll be something like my 15th time seeing AB. I've been a fan since the first album and saw them a bunch on the ODR tour, and every tour since. But it'll be my very first time seeing Wolfie and I'm super stoked for that as well. He's carrying the rock torch and will continue to do so after AB is done. Bands like Mammoth WVH and Dirty Honey give me hope for the future of this genre.

Wolfie stole the show when I saw him with AB this winter. Dude kills it live. Enjoy!
