Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
In 6/8 you have 6 eighth notes per bar, in 6/4 you have 6 quarter notes per bar. It's hard to explain.. 6/4 is usually slower and the intonation lies diffently. In 6/8 you have 2 groups of 3 and in 6/4 you've got 3 groups of 2, if that makes sense to you. Easiest way to understand is to listen to examples and count along I think.
Blackbird - Words Darker Than Their Wings = 6/8
Until It's Gone - Miss The Misery (by Foo Fighters) = 6/4

What's the difference between 6/4 and 6/8?
6/4 is 2 quarter notes longer than usual 4/4 time.
6/8 = 3/4, so 1 quarter note shorter than usual 4/4 time, but it's just played two times longer.

Thanks guys, never played 6/4 back in band. Had a bit of an idea, just wanted to see if it was right.
Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
Anybody listen to the three new releases since Until It's Gone? They're alright.

The entire album is streaming at the moment on Itunes I'm not really impressed by it..

Don't care for the album whatsoever. Hugely shoddy melodies and songwriting.
Hope everybody else is enjoying it, though.

There's certain songs I'm really enjoying, A Line in the Sand is REALLY good.
Overall, I say the album is 8/10

A Line in the Sand sounds like a Victimized/Guilty All The Same rip-off.. I was expecting a lot from that song, because everybody was hyping it so much.
I like War and I thought Mark The Graves was really interesting (though the beginning of that song is a mess).

To be honest, it upsets me that Linkin Park are even still making music.
They shoulda stopped after Minutes to Midnight cos that was a sheer abomination.
Some people just don't know to quit while they're ahead hey?

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
Now that's kinda unnecessary to say. Now if you don't like the albums following the albums in their "prime", that's a fair comment. Probably some people got into Linkin Park with those albums following Minutes to Midnight. Maybe some people are inspired by the songs from it.
I'm kinda glad they still made the music and do shows. Otherwise, I wouldn't checked out their Rock AM Ring stream and I wouldn't had the chance to listen to this album which is decent. Not the best of 2014 to me, but somewhere in the middle.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
There are a lot of LP fans who think Meteora is their worst album and that A Thousand Suns is one of their best combined with Hybrid Theory. These are the die-hards who spend hours on the LP forums and go to a lot of their concerts. I also got a friend who likes the new LP a lot better than the old LP.

I think they've been equally suckish throughout their entire career.

To be fair one must say that they also had some pretty cool songs.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
Saw Linkin Park in 2004 at Glasgow Green when they trailed a 'Download Scotland' that included Metallica, Machine Head, KoRn, Slipknot, HIM, Iggy & The Stooges, The Distillers and a Welsh band im now ashamed to have seen and will not mention their name as the front guy is now a convicted nonce.
After seeing Linkin Park then and what they are now, i think the Meteora era was the golden era, with songs from Hybrid Theory and a Nine Inch nails cover and them performing their pre signed EP song Step Up it was a good show, even though it rained in the last half of the show.
To see their next attempts, Minuites To Midnight was decent but a bit soft, a but Coldplay to my ears, but post that it was utter dross and a fan lost here. Now im being asked to take a new listen, i will, but i will reserve the right to be skeptical about the results of what i hear.

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
I think Linkin Park is doing something called a "iHeartRadio Album Release Party" right now. I hope that means that they are doing a live stream where they play the Hunting Party in its entirety. Here's the link.

Edit: All right, I don't think they are going to play the album in its entirety. Just the singles. Damn. Why call it an album release party if they are not going to play the album in its entirety for this moment?

Saw them live a couple of weeks ago among 15000 people jamming under the rain downtown St Pete, Russia.
Wicked show!
Can not make myself listen to their albums sine 2007 to be honest.

They had 2 bsides I really liked, called "My December" and "No Roads Left". They were really good in my opinion. Check em out!
Also, I did enjoy 'Keys to the Kingdom' off their newest album. Rebellion and Final Masquerade were a bit catchy too.

It was Hybrid Theory that revealed the world of rock and metal for me. So I'll always have a special place for LP in my heart, but I can't listen to anything post-Meteora...

Re: The Official LINKIN PARK Thread
Yea, pretty much the same here, though I can appreciate some of their newer songs.
Lol, this is not really relevant but I just thought of how enraged I was when I heard The Catalyst for the first time. I felt so betrayed. I kinda like the song now. Waiting For The End as well.
I still think The Hunting Party was pretty awful and uninspired, which at least you can't say about A Thousand Suns, even though THP sounds closer to Hybrid Theory and Meteora.
