Free The Nipple is a film, an equality movement, and a mission to empower women across the world. We stand against female oppression and censorship, both in the United States and around the globe. Today, in the USA it is effectively ILLEGAL for a woman to be topless, breastfeeding included, in 35 states. In less tolerant places like Louisiana, an exposed nipple can take a woman to jail for up to three years and cost $2,500 in fines. Even in New York City, which legalized public toplessness in 1992, the NYPD continues to arrest women. We're working to change these inequalities through film, social media, and a grassroots campaign.

I find it to be kind of an odd approach to the cause. I can understand the argument for allowing breast feeding in public, but I don't know any mothers who want to do that in public while being completely exposed. And then when celebrities jump on the bandwagon, it comes across as using sex appeal to promote a civil rights cause. That completely defeats the purpose of it because something as natural as a mother feeding her child doesn't need associated with the likes of Miley Cyrus grabbing for attention.

You live in the west coast parts of Canada. I'm sure it's not that bad there. In the areas like Toronto or Montreal, I'm sure people may think different.
