To me, those songs are what defines this band because they're the biggest aspect that makes them stand out compared to literally all other (well known) rock bands on the planet right now. It amazes me how the two of us apparently have completely different tastes of music but still love the same band.
No offense taken. I love AB. They have been my favorite band since 2004. Their albums and songs have carried me through many chapters of life - graduating college, moving across the country, dealing with addiction, breaking up with my fiancee, and the everyday grind of work. I realize the two songs we are discussing have deep meaning to many fans. I identify with and gravitate towards the more aggressive side of AB - Metalingus, Buried Alive, White Knuckles, The Damage Done, Isolation, Addicted to Pain, Bleed It Dry, Farther Than The Sun, Island of Fools, Native Son etc. The combination of riffs, solos, Myles' singing, and lyrics in those songs equal "Alter Bridge" to me and would be examples of how I describe the band to those who have never heard them. I simply don't connect in the same way to WDTTW and Dying Light. I can't argue that that AB appeals to different people in different ways.
