So I'm thinking about seeing Rammstein at the USC Coliseum. Tickets on the secondary market looks affordable enough. I'm not fretting about any parking and transportation problems. Is their show good enough even if I don't know the songs or know what they are talking about?

Never seen them live though I could have. From the videos I've seen they put on a hell of a show with all the pyrotechnics and shit. Not a big fan of the music but if you can get a spot near the stage and it's not gonna set you back a lot (and the travel is easy), I would go for it.

Well, I ended up buying the ticket. It was only $30.00 for a nosebleed seat and since it's in a stadium that I have never been to, I thought to take the chance. I'm able to find a parking garage nearby a Metro train station that can take me close to USC and back for a good rate, so that's good news as well.

I've seen Rammstein live twice. Once in a headlining arena show and once at a festival. I'm not the biggest Rammstein fan ( I really like some of their songs though) but their shows are just ridiculously entertaining. I think you made a great choice there, Kev!

I had a fun time. Those guys are weird and knows how to put on a metal stadium show.

It's pretty funny. The last time I was in the USC area was for Iron Maiden back in 2019 and the next concert after that is the Walk the Sky listening party. Next concert after this is the Pawns & Kings listening party. Huge contrast being around 10s of thousands of metalheads and going to Orlando in the smallest venue I will be all year that will have the most enthusiastic AB fans around. I wouldn't have it any other way.

ARGHHHHH, this hurricane has really thrown a wrench in my plans to Orlando this weekend. I got to find a new hotel room (luckily I was able to get a full refund on my old reservation), new bus routes to plan, and new flights.

Ok, so my flights are sorted out. Now for my hotel options. Since my original hotel is not available (which sucks since it was a good hotel for the price I paid), my options are pretty barren for the budget I have. I'm talking low-quality name-brands like Quality Inn, Budget Inn, Best Western, and Days Inn. So question. What sort of things should I look for when choosing a low-quality hotel when it comes to customer ratings, reviews, etc.?

This requires a bus trip from and back to the Beacham and I'm sure I'm going to get lost along the way with no cell phones to bring to the venue.

I’m fine with the cheapest, dodgiest looking place going… (comfort isn’t that important if it’s a brief stay) as long as there’s a working lock on the door. I wouldn’t be put off by bad reviews/ratings myself unless they mention safety as an issue.

I'm not really fretting much on comfort myself. I'm only staying two nights and the 2nd night, I would only need a few hours of sleep anyway since I'm out of there at 3 AM to head to the airport for an early flight. Yeah, safety is the key priority.

Yep. Give me a lock, give me AC, and give me wifi and I can take just about any sketchy lookin place with blood on the walls anywhere in the United States... even in a state full of insane people like Florida.

Ha! I once stayed in a London hostel which was actually a prison some years earlier. When I was there, they still had bars on the windows :wtf

All right, hotel has been rebooked. Got a room at a Budget Inn. This one seems to have ok ratings on booking.com. Still a close bus ride and a walk away from the Beacham. Just know that after the listening party is over and that I will eventually get lost on my way back to the hotel room, with no phone on hand, that I adore all of you guys.

Simply the greatest band of all time

I flew to San Diego last Saturday to stay with my brother and see Iron Maiden. I won First To The Barrier passes and we were essentially second row center in the pit. Brilliant show, brilliant production, brilliant music. How Nicko still plays those songs with one bass drum at 70 years old is incredible. Up the freaking Irons.

I contemplated wanting to drive down to the area last weekend to see them, but ticket prices wasn't at a price I like to buy, and I wanted to save my energy for the listening party. This was, obviously, before the listening party was delayed a week.

So, this has been quite a week of various scandals in various competitions. We got a chess scandal going on. We got a potential poker scandal going on where so-called professionals would rather be witch-hunting, and not apply Occam's razor, rather than use their knowledge of the game and apply the skillset to real-life deductions.

However, all pales in comparison to..... a fishing competition scandal. About 14:35 is where the yelling and profanity begins.

Anyone have any suggestions for finding apartments? I've been using Apartments.com, Zillow, and Craigslist to look at the Denver area, but based on what I saw driving around, I feel like I'm not seeing all properties. Any suggestions for finding private properties? My last place was a building with two stores on the street level and 2 apartments above, I'd love to find a place like that again, but not sure of any other places to look. Only found that place because a friend was already there and looking for a roommate.
