It's genius. I did the same with one of my very first sigs and you berated me. I was devastated.

I'm glad you approve. I did it as an artistic statement. 100% intentionally.

Why don't we just agree with the albums how they are, now?
I guess, the guys from AB didn't release any of these albums if they weren't happy with the results..

This may be kinda silly, but about how long does it normally take to do the recording for an album? I understand there's all the editing afterwards, but when actually recording do most bands stick to a schedule or do they take their time till they're 100% happy with a track or does it simply depend on the band and producer? (and where does AB lie in this spectrum?)

They have until september to finish it. Takes as long as it needs to take. But their is a time table that needs to happen.
But Recording takes the longest time just because they go at a well managed/slow pace. When things are being recorded it almost has to be perfect for what they are trying to do and that takes time and effort .

If I recall correctly from their last 2 albuns, after pre-pro is done, the time frame works like this:

Week 1) Flip records drums
Week 2) Brian records bass
Weeks 2/3) Mark and Myles record guitars
Week 4/5) Mark and Myles record vocals and guitar solos/ fills

Then it's about a week to mix the tracks (not necessarily the week after the last recording)...

Band has to approve it or edit it, it may take a day or a month...

After they approve it, mastering takes one day.

Then it's off for the lawyers do their thing: copyrights, contracts, etc while Dan T works on design ideas for the album art.

all depends on how fast they go with it all. sevendust wrote and recorded "black out the sun" in 31 days and its a solid release. wrote it from September to October. it was released by march. I see September release for AB. but everything is never set in stone in the AB camp. its always been a waiting game

Nawwwww, they are not going to f around with AB albums, especially with a big tour coming up, with an audience that wants to hear some songs, other than the singles, from the new album. I imagine September/October release.

I asked Michael on Twitter whether or not Mark mentioned any specific songs that he was excited, like an epic or two. Here's what Michael said:
He said one song clocked in at 7:20. That sounds epic!
Looks like we're going to get another Blackbird-length song!

That's pretty cool news. I'm not going to call it 'epic' till I hear it, but it's nice to hear there's a longer song in there.

I know right? :lol :lol

edit: was just thinking, maybe it's just a regular 4 minute song but they pulled a Rise Today on it and do the chorus a bazillion times when it comes round each time :dance
