This is a great song, but something about the music, particularly the synths, makes it too "romantic" and "sensual" for my taste. Do you get what I mean?

I hear you, Max. I really like Dayseeker as a band. The synths are, to me, what make them have that pop-metalcore sound. Caskets/Captives shares some of that and more and more bands are incorporating it - Dreamwake, Normandie, Northlane, ERRA, Too Close to Touch, Siamese. I think it's all an off shoot of Bring Me The Horizon.

I have heard one other Dayseeker song, which is Without Me. I actually like it better because I think that the synths convey more of a sad tone, as opposed to Sleeptalk.

What you are "keying" in on is an important element of that band and their sound. They are able to convey emotion through the synths. You talked about the "sensual" and "romantic" side along with the "sad" tone. The first songs I heard from them were "Neon Grave" - which is about death/loss - and "Dreamstate" - longing for somebody in another world. Both very emotional.

Bring Me The Horizon captured the "punctuation power" of synths on "Can You Feel My Heart".

Normandie uses the synths more sparingly but primarily for the "power" or to express angst.

Caskets adds the synths for more of an atmospheric effect - make it "bigger" sounding and "dreamy".

And another band I forgot about is Rain City Drive. Seems like the synths are there to primarily underline the guitar.

Because I'm in a nostalgic mood. Fun fact, this track was actually made out of a longer album track to appease the record company asking for 'a hit'. They just took the chorus from that album track, sped it up and shoved a rap verse in there. The band hates it.... and despite that, it's still a total banger.

Man, I used to listen to this song so much when I was like 15 years old. Thanks for reminding me, haven't heard it in over 10 years, I think. :bow

It's been great to see our Max's songwriting mature over the past year or so. This is some genuinely good stuff.

I checked it out today (3 full listens) while doing deliveries. It's okay. Two Faced and IGYEIH are my favorites.

I honestly really like Emily's parts of this song better. The back and forth just sounds too disparate for me. LP's gonna have a bunch of people who won't give them a fair shot, but I think it's good song overall and I hope they do well.
